Well the days are noticeably shorter, all the leaves are turning colour and falling. Fall is here. We haven't had a killing frost yet and there are some really nice blooms and rose hips. Here's Purple Pavement

Campfire! Oh, boy! My favorite color combination -- yellow and pink. I'm not used to seeing that combo in zone 2 roses.

Hilarious! Hilarious! Hilarious! We've all been there! Hilarious! Hilarious! Hilarious!

I have Lavender Pinocchio too and they are on the puny side - hope your new one is more vigorous! Crossing Fingers!

My Lavender Pinocchio is also puny, but probably because it's an own-root plant. I wish someone would sell a grafted Lavender Pinocchio.

Campfire is spectacular, I agree. What a beautiful display of blooms!

My one and only bloom on my pitiful looking Penny Lane. Hilarious! She's mostly leafless right now but it's end of season so not complaining.

Zuzu ....

With Grey Pearl as the pollen parent, even grafted, I doubt if Lavender Pinocchio will ever be a vigorous rose. Enjoy it while you can ... Smiling

You're probably right, Lyn. The Uncommon Rose once sold Grey Pearl as a grafted plant, and I bought it, of course, but it only lasted 4 or 5 years before fading away. It produced some gorgeous blooms in those years, however.

My Lavender Pinocchio is about 12 years old, and it won't ever be a showstopper, but it hasn't faded away yet either. I just wish it could be as impressive as some of my other LeGrice roses.

This is Respect for the Aged Day in Japan. Grandmother's Hat is the Rose of the Day.

I've always been amused by this name because it makes me think the grandmother in question was a haughty and commanding woman. It seems to me that whoever named the rose didn't think of grandmothers as lovable characters. If he had, the name would be something like Grannie's Bonnet. The name Grandmother's Hat, on the other hand, is positively dripping with respect.

Sharlene,
'Loving Lorna' is a stunner! Are there rose shows in your area where you can enter this rose?
Hurray!
