I already don't remember the old one. I was trying to remember how the plant list used to be displayed and could not.

Sorry, but the forum is 2/3 of the page and ads and blank space is the other 1/3 of the page. Totally not pleasing to the eye of a 40 something year old.

I can't stand ads that have movement and stuff that take away and distract from what I am doing. If this is the signs of the times, well take it back.

Plus I don't need to be reminded of every website that I have visited in the past week with more ads.

I hope everyone here in the Daylily forum is starting to make the adjustment ok and figuring out how to set their home page/start page the way they want. If not please ask for help either here or in the Site Talk forum. You can always send me a tmail and I'll see what I can do.
I completely agree with Cindy, the whitness of everything really bothers the eyes even after enlarging the text and taking several breaks ( I would never be able to live in one of these "modern" designed houses with the sterile look. Give me color! Green Grin! )

I understand the ads, altho they take up way to much space . Its that they move. Grumbling
Apparently if you have contributed enough to the data base...or something, you can go to your preferences, and turn the ads off. I did not fit in that category.

I agree Same issues with the layout here. Can the white space be filled with pics of daylilies posted by members? Like it was before?

The color and all the white didnt bother me right off, but you sure have to get up and get away from it, often. It just is so boring, no character, no warmth. Not my website tho.

I'm getting there. I don't mind the white and the blank.

That's also how I understood that it works. I had the option but chose to leave the ads rather than block them. I'm not seeing ANY ads on this new format?? I went back and checked my preferences and the ads are still not blocked.

It's not that I want to see ads, especially. I just somehow manage to not see them even when they are there, so they don't bother me unless they are the sort that move across the screen. It's uncanny how successfully I tune them out otherwise. Those with sound and movement are more distracting, but I'm not recalling any of those here. Are those on the NGA page too?

I did rearrange my home page so it's more or less what it was before and all the new is below that. I have messed up how the photos appear. I'm a reader more than not, so that's not a big issue. I mainly look at photos contained within threads or when I'm searching in the database. Otherwise they are nearly as invisible as the ads Smiling .

I read where you can adjust the look of the homepage....and I have adjusted some things. However, are the only options available to add/adjust are the ones in that box in the upper left? I would love to have my homepage have my forums, mail options, and the fantastic Plant Database at the top of the page. As it is now, I'm having to scroll down to the bottom to find these things or click on a drop down box. Call me lazy or picky, but I want what I want!
I totally agree that more color is needed. This gray is just too blah....especially when there's so much of it.

After reading needrain's post, I went back and fiddled a bit more and I now realize you can grab any of those boxed words and move them to the top. My forums are now at the top, and I like that better. I will see if I can move my mail and plant database there, too.

I find the posts are too far to the left so that I have to turn my head to the left to read them. I preferred having the navigation down the left side instead of at the top, on this iPad at least, and that shifted the posts more to the centre.

I think the device you use to view the site probably makes a lot of difference. I have a desktop and have never used a phone or other device. Seems like it might be really difficult for a webmaster to make viewing compatible among all of them. There is just such a screen size difference, for one thing. Also a keyboard and mouse are a lot different than the finger pointing Big Grin .

I'm an oldster, too, and I do find the bright white difficult on my eyes, but I know I can work on my screen to fix that. As soon as I found the customize my home page, I found the new design great, Dave!

I think you and Trish and Jon are wonderful!

I agree with what Sue said. Having the text too far to the left makes it really hard on my neck.

Mayo - I don't get any ads either. I've had mine switched off since day one.

I am going to add here a suggest to others that I mentioned in another thread:

I like the "links" option at the top. It makes it very easy for me to go into "my" daylilies from my plant list and I also like the "Daylily of the Day" feature so that I can add updates to cultivars that I have. So I added both of those to my links. That is a nice shortcut feature! (Enlarge my photo to see what I am referring to.)

Thanks, Dave, Trish, and Jon! Thumbs up Thumbs up Thumbs up

Go to settings (the little blue silhouette, in the top right corner, go down about seven or eight lines and select no adds.
