This was another one of those SDB sized blooms. It's a cross between My Purple seedling x Adriatic waves. One's a purple self, the other's a blue self, and this comes along. How does that happen? Hilarious!

I like the previous one - Quiet Reflections x Ghitano.
How bizarre that a purple self and blue self produced a yellow and white bloom. Shrug!

It's very different, and seems to want to have some ruffles too.

I don't know what pattern you'd call that, seems almost like a yellow plicata with a light violet background. But then it has that rose colored blush on the standards. Shrug! I hope it blooms this spring with a normal size bloom.

On the falls it looks like the lavender blends out to pink before the yellow rim. It doesn't have any of the spots I usually associate with plicatas. It has a very nice form, and I like the ruffles.

I really like this one too, nice ruffles and color.

That's one great iris, Tom. It has it all. Hope it blooms true to class this spring.

Here's another one from that cross that bloomed this fall. It may be a RE.

I had to cover it with a garbage can to protect it from several freezes, but it bloomed several blooms. Sent up two stalks.

I noticed that the beards on your Purple seedling x Adriatic waves cross with unexpected colors look like they're lifting away from the falls at the tip. Makes me cuious if blooms next year could have horns.

This is from a cross with Florentine Silk x Dutchman's Dream. There were two of these, the other one was so plain I didn't bother with a picture. This one was going to get the axe too, but I didn't get around to it, so I guess it gets another chance.

Tom, I've been meaning to ask if you have a specific goal in mind with the individual crosses you make? Or do you just use irises you like?

I was wondering the same thing. I'm finding it complicated to make planned crosses in my head with specific genetic goals in mind.

When I first started I was just trying to see if I could make it work. Many of the blooms you see are from those attempts. Now I am more focused on what I want, but also crossing some that I think will produce nice plants, but most of those haven't bloomed yet.
