Another beautiful bloom.
I went back and looked at your photo of Old Copper posted June 3 in the database. Looks like some of the young offsets decided bloom. I had some do that way last year.
Right now the beds are dotted with beautiful blooms. I am especially loving the yellow blooms of S. cilliosum. It makes such a nice contrast with all the pink and red blooms.
From yesterday:
Smit's Seedling
I have come to realize leaving the dead bloom stalks in my beds was not a good thing to do. I spent a couple of hours yesterday removing a gazillion seedlings coming up everywhere.
This year I will remove the spent bloom stalks when they have mature seed and harvest them for planting in flats.
That noid I had a few years ago as a rescue plant that never did offsets did that. A huge flower stalk, covered with flowers up and down the stalk. It was a real beauty in bloom, but I would have liked a couple of offsets. Hope you have more.
