Tom, Dana's husband, is getting loads of stones and gravel. Looks like they're planning some major construction designed - purely by accident of course - to mess me up as much as possible.

One reason I am, at the bottom of all this, feeling OK about myself, is that I have been a great neighbor to them. And they know it. They are now maybe waiting for me to blow or gossip or do something to retaliate. It won't happen.

I am so glad I wrote the post.

Very quiet here today. I feel like Rosie and I are both still grieving losses that cannot be undone. There's nothing to do but wait out the pain. katie

I agree. If I could undo.....my brain feels like a record with a scratch... keeps returning to the same place.. Tomorrow is the visitation and Friday the church ...I don't do visitations ...but I am looking forward to sitting in that quiet country church wher he grew up and being with all the people who knew him before me... I want to tell his mom how special he was and how he will never be forgotten ..what a wonderful boy she raised. I pray I can get through it ..he would tell me how exasperated his mom would get because he spent Christmas Eve with us.. it was not me..nor the family..it was THE PASTA AND GARLICKY MUSSELS...the struffoli and the antipasta.. he was thin but ate like he was eating for four!

It's 4am and I'm awake and mildly weepy. Thinking of the cartoon about "I'm sorry." It says break a plate; now tell the plate you're sorry. My neighbor hasn't even told me she's sorry. Easy for her she has a very active social life. I don't. My choice but it makes it difficult when something like this happens.

This, too, shall pass. I'm going to read about growing a lot of tomato plants.

Hearing I am sorry if it is sincere really does matter.
Folks think they can just go back to normal things and all will be well .. like her coming by to ask if you need something from the store was likely her " I'm sorry " ..but as my mom would say " It won't cut the mustard ".

What will I say. Her parents told her and Bella that Johnny was hurt real bad and went to heaven to be healed..and we won't get to see him any longer... that should be enough, but she will press me for the "how" ..she always comes to me to get the skinny on things...

I think I will say I am not really sure...but I know he could not heal without extra help available in heaven. Because I don't know...and because I have never lied to her.... not counting Santa and some misc fairies... oh and the flu shot..

Tell her what you do know and what you don't know. It might have been an accident or it might have been suicide. Not knowing is part of the pain but she can understand that. Sorry, this is bringing up a suicide that took place in my family many years ago. I blamed myself and no one talked about it. I still carry pain from it. So tell her what you can and be sure she understands that she was not part of his death. Let her talk about her understanding. She may want to know if there was anything she could have done to help him.

The two-month old grandson of a good friend on FB just died suddenly. What is going on?

It does seem to be a time when a lot of bad things are happening. I try to stay positive and count my blessings. Sending hugs to all who need them.

I am wavering between sad and angry. There has been no contact at all, let alone an apology and I'm not holding my breath.

What I am doing is what I can to take care of myself and move on. I was able to do some gardening today. Some of the new plants I brought down on my last trip are showing new growth. It's amazing how that can cheer me up.

My refrigerator might have just died. If it ain't one thing it's another.

Darn, Katie. You don't need more problems, but that's the way life is. It's always something! I keep wondering when life will ever calm down. Ha! That'll never happen.
