If I'm not careful, I'll forget that my intent for one section of my yard is a native wildlife habitat -- it would be REALLY easy to fill it with day lilies Hilarious! Hilarious! Whistling

Mary, if you keep hanging with daylily folks you will be increasing those daylily numbers quicker than you thought possible. That native wildlife habitat area better watch out!!!

Rolling on the floor laughing My 10 daylilies in 2009 went to about 225 in 2010 with me adding a about 25 or so more in 2011. Then I had to move and get rid of a lot of those daylilies ( I only kept my hybridizing ones and about 25 for the shows). Well, I find myself slowly adding more. I'm adding those for hybridizing, but I have gotten a few that I say to myself "that would be a good show flower". We addicts are hopeless and use any excuse to buy a daylily Green Grin!

Mary - I think you need at least 100 to have wide selection of all the forms and colors. There is such a huge variety of daylilies!

I am serious on the 100. I have had thousands at a time, but the 100 or so I have now are really my favorites from all the years. Every year I try to add a couple ones I miss growing, or a couple new ones, but something has to go to make that happen. It is getting harder and harder to let any go. I love all of the ones I have now.

250 was also a nice number.....

Let's see..... do we call those daylily hand me downs? Kind of a funny thought when you think about it. I wonder if a daylily has traveled the country by being passed on & living in one place for a few years then passed on & so on & so forth? Hey Mary, you ought to write a children's story about that.

I had to laugh when you said that you might have to double your number, from 24 to 48......

Famous last words!

I went from none 4 years ago, to about 100 right now. Granted, I haven't seen most of them bloom yet Rolling my eyes.

And I too, am still ordering...... and getting ready to start some more from seeds....

It is waaaay to easy to get addicted to daylilies! And I only have 1/2 acre..... Big Grin

You realize that was just for humor's sake, right? Hilarious!

Was telling someone this morning that I have an 8x16 raised bed I've not used for anything yet. Hadn't quite figured out what would work with its location, but I think day lilies would go great there. Then there's the oval in my yard that needs its perimeter lined with flowers, and that will probably be enough for this year.

PROBABLY. Whistling

Hahahaha, famous last words.

Because when your club has it's daylily sale...... you will find WAY too many you just have to have! And after you check out the Lily Auction (which is very, very dangerous for me) you will discover even more and THEN there are all these beautiful photos other ATP members just HAVE to post.....
