This thread is being created as a 'Sister Thread' to Keith's very popular (almost 9,000 posts to date!) 'Daily gardening thread for everyone' by keithp2012.

Since many gardeners live in a cooler climate, gardening out of doors may be finished now that the weather is getting colder and must wait for the warm weather to arrive. Lots of folks don't do too much indoor gardening so...

What did you NOT do in your garden today???

Did you read, paint, sew, or just curse the little critters that wreaked havoc on your garden this year? Maybe you decided to write the great American (or the country of your choice) novel? Are you devising the best way to sort/store/label your collection of seeds? Tell us what you are doing to avoid gardening withdrawal.

Keep in mind that some of us that live in the milder climates will still be slaving away over on the 'Daily gardening thread for everyone' by keithp2012 because our gardening year has not yet ended...for some of us it never ends, Sighing! but it should be fun to see what others do to keep busy.

Let's try to keep the posts on a positive note because the winter blahs are bad enough without inviting 'Negative Nellies'. For negative posts, please visit the Sandbox where you can find:

The Sad Thread:

Hurray! Let's have fun with this.
C'mon, what did you NOT do in your garden today? Rolling on the floor laughing Hurray!

I had to go to an appointment with my new primary doctor here in NM. No fun, but I'm glad it's over, and I can play here on site, and hopefully do some organizing in my craft room. I had a windfall of mosaic and stained glass supplies so I am having to do a lot of organizing. I am sorting seeds to figure out which ones to start in my grow tent. I haven't had time to play with seeds for a long time.

Thanks for starting this Greene! This is going to be fun. Other than work at the office Sighing! , I caught up on my watched garden threads (gosh I love all you guys Lovey dubby ) and ordered a daylily (African Dawn) for my step-daughter who just returned from a mission trip in Sierra Leone Africa. I previously got her the Lilium African Lady. I need to update my daylily spread sheet (had to split it into 4 pieces since it was getting so darn big with all of the new ones!)

I did NOT get my rider mower started today! Beautiful sunshine, yet mid-40ies (cool/cold). Dzee battery was dead. Tomorrow a forecast for rain. Have battery charger, but not enough extension cords to reach the shed wherein resides the mower. Land is uphill to get to electrical outlet and I didn't care to push the mower.

I DID get some of it push-mowed with my bagger mower to keep the leaves for compost. I soon wore out since I hadn't had much physical activity for 3-weeks. My hopes for the rider mower was to mow the leaves into row, and then sweep them up with the push mower. Didn't happen. Sad

Cubby shelves like that are always so functional, Cheryl. Great find!

I ended up ordering more Sempervivums because I found out that @valleylynn had bred and registered a new Semp called "Lynn's Spin".It's being sold by Perennial Obsessions in Salem, Oregon. I wanted to get one before they're all gone!

Our DD is allergic to dogs but we found a way for her to hold one of them. Can't tell who's enjoying it most?

I have an appointment with spring!
My gardening season ended rather ABRUPTLY with a total knee replacement. The knee was going downhill but what really did it in was dividing that last huge daylily using spade and leg push method... NUTS!....so I had just enough time to limp around in my beloved beds and borders and do a clean up and mulch, before the big TKR day (11/2). I got the garlic in, and said goodbye to the yard for the season.
Today, after the PT session, I looked out the window, that's what I didn't do in the garden!
My armchair gardening season is in full swing!
Planning and planning, and have already placed an order for some dahlias to arrive in the spring.

Lottabeds, you'll be ready to go full steam ahead come next garden season. Hope you heal quickly.

I went to work today. It is raining and cold here. There should still be occasional nice days before winter gets here. My days off I have been going through my photo files.

Love the picture Cheryl. Great find on the shelves.

I'm on my way to the garage to work on Canna and Dahlias--getting them ready for winter. Hope I can find some peat moss somewhere today. I don't have enough on hand.

Stopping to check the thread. Wow! The words 'free', 'cubby', and 'curb' all in the same sentence. How cool is that.

The washing machine broke and when I went to the laundromat I discovered their machines were half-dead. Left too much water and would have taken forever to dry in the big dryers. So I took my laundry card which still had $22.92 left on it and gave it to the next person who walked in the door. You should have seen how big her smile was! That way, I made lemonade out of lemons and left with a good feeling. So here I sit, not gardening, and waiting for the stuff to dry in daughter's home dryer. Gonna take 3 loads to get it all done. I have time to kill.

Heading out for a bite of lunch. I'll come back later and not-garden some more. Thumbs up

Great idea to bless the next person doing laundry Hurray! Hurray! Hurray! Is your daughter's washer fixable or is it a gonner?
At least as long as you are sitting there waiting you don't do like I do - put it in the dryer and next day put something wet in it to get the wrinkles back out of it Whistling Whistling Hilarious! Hilarious! Hilarious! Hilarious!

I need to vacuum and do some housecleaning but I leave that until I really can't do much in the garden and must stay indoors.

Of course I could sort my seeds and plan for next spring.

I also have to cook myself something for dinner tonight as I have used up the leftovers that were in the fridge.

The day's not over yet and I might actually do something or than think about what I might be doing outside. A friend called last night to say that she's having a garage (estate?) sale on Saturday and did I want to be the cashier. Well, I always like to play with money so that's a no brainer. And now y'all know what I won't be doing in the garden on Saturday.

As for this morning, I've been busy looking for things to contribute to the sale. Not a lot because a mere week ago I had already taken a lot of things to a local charity. I'm also debating with myself (always an interesting thing to do) as to whether I should get one of those green visors that bank tellers used to wear.

Plus I have seeds that I'm divvying up for our public Seed Library and for some of the peeps who play around here on NGA. Oh, and like now, I'm spending a lot of time on NGA.

At least I finally got out of my jammies.

This will be a great thread and a motivator.

Greene - what a wonderful gift you gave to someone at the laundromat!
