That's a stately plant you have there and now with a regal name!

Rby Haiku Dawn 'sunshine and raspberries ' is finally giving me more than one bud per spike, and I see 2 more spikes in the works.
Dendrobium Samarai this afternoon and Lnc. Newberry 'Lava Burst ' still looks fabulous from last month.

Finally pics of blooms from the newbies I bought last weekend

Lycaste campbellii Listed as fragrant. Nothing yet

Angraecum florulentum

Cymbidium Insigne ssp seidenfadenii pink lip
I was told this Cym would hold itself straight up without a stake. They used a stake only for transportation. I will leave it be. But it stands about 5 foot high

Bifenaria harrisoniae

And from the pergola

This is a copy and paste of my comment I inadvertently posted to the April 2018 thread. LOL

Hi orchid fans, I'm new to this group - found you in a Google search for fragrant orchids. I'm ready to go beyond my white and purple phals and add some fragrant orchids to my collection.

I live in Murray, KY, a wonderful college town in western Kentucky. I grew hundreds of african violets, but am in the process of downsizing my collection to a dozen favorites. I'm almost there.

I also have a collection of Achimenes rhizomes that started back in the mid-90's when I got an old variety from my grandmother.

If you have suggestions for very fragrant, easy-to-grow orchids, I'd love to hear from you! Looking forward to learning a few things and meeting some new plant friends!

Thank You!

Which orchid source has the best value for their healthy orchids? THX!

As far as orchid sources go, every orchid grower has their favorites depending upon where they live and what they grow. You will pick your favorites over time as well.
Welcome to the Orchid Forums! Welcome! it just may be the best forums around.
As far as fragrance goes, that is a difficult reason to decide exactly which orchids that you will grow. Not every one is fragrant. At least some do not have a scent that we can detect. Angracoids are fragrant at night because they are largely white and are pollinated by night flying insects. Bulbophyllums are fragrant because they are pollinated by carrion feeding insects. But if you are looking for the most fragrant group of orchids, it would be the Cattleya group!!
Again, so happy you found us and welcome. There are numerous threads about orchids and familiarize yourself with all of them. You can learn so much!! Welcome! I tip my hat to you.

Welcome! Christine!
I grow mostly Cattleya and yes, they are very fragrant!
Some remind me of spring flowers, daffodils , lily of the valley..muscari. Others remind me of roses or just sweet and spicy. Most of the large classic looking flowers have wonderful fragrance.

the easy to find B. nodosa variety has intoxicating fragrance in the evening only.

As to where to get orchids...I would suggest googling 'Orchid societies near me' or 'orchid clubs near me' ..'Orchid growers near me'...and I would check out the garden centers at Lowe's and HomeDepot for the Better-Gro ( bag babies) plants. I've found some real gems there.
Glad you've found us!

Hi Christine Welcome!

I echo the Cattleya scent! Many have a wonderful fragrance. It is a good idea to buy in bloom to check it out! Too many, too numerous to mention! Smiling

I posted a list of fragrant Orchids years ago and I copied it now and revised it a bit.

Many Miltoniopsis smell really nice - top note of Cyclamen
But not all do, so if I want a nicely fragrant one, I check the vendor tables at a show and start sniffing the blooms.
Tuberolabium quisumbingii and odoratissimum
Angraecum sesquipedale - at sundown scent is similar to Paper Whites mixed with that of Acidantheras ( White floral scent typical of Moth pollinated flowers)
Dendrochilum glumaceum - scent of Anise with a touch of Vanilla ( don't believe that hay-scented description which every one seems to copy from each other)
Dendrochilum magnum, now that smells like a freshly mowed meadow in beautiful sunshine
Coelia bella - Marzipan and delicious perfume mix, blooms around Christmas
Encyclia brassavolae - scent of Carnations, after sundown ( spicy floral)
Neofinetia falcata and Fuukirans - mostly strongly Vanilla scented, some with additional touches of Pina Colada and similar "yummies"
Miltonia regnellii - smells of Coriander and Dill pickles with some fruity aspects
Dendrobium kingianum - sweet and wonderful
Dendrobium anosmum/superbum - top note of Raspberries and Rhubarb
Dendrobium unicum - Apricots and Peaches
Cycnodes Wine Delight - scent of Spearmint and Cinnamon ( scent of Teaberry Gum!!!)
Epidendrum parkinsonianum - like a clean soap
Stanhopea wardii - it perfumes a whole house with a sultry floral scent mixed with perhaps some Camphor and Eucalyptus
other Stanhopeas - strongly beautifully scented
Brassavola glauca - beautiful scent at sundown, a touch of cyclamen perhaps
Brassavola nodosa - scented at sundown ( the lady of the night) - white floral to rosy floral
Laelia anceps - Anise
Ornithophora radicans or now Gomesa radicans - smells like 1000 Dandelions in the sun
Maxillaria tenuifolia - smells strongly of coconut suntan lotion or Macaroons ( not Macarons, I mean those made with Coconut)
Oncidium Twinkle - mostly Carnation scent
Jumellea comorensis - Cinnamon scented

(Now the other side of the coin, if you are looking for a super stinker - there is Bulbophyllum echinolabium. Better have it blooming outside or near a fan. And it was a total surprise to me some time ago to stick my nose into a beautifully bloomed Masdevallia tovarensis and and get a strong whiff of Pyridine, totally unexpected. )

Most of the time we will add a note to our post regarding a nice scent. Just browse the monthly threads....And have fun!

Thank You! I pasted the list into my phone so it will be at my fingertips. There are a few scents on there like Paperwhites and Anise that I do not care for and it is good to know so I won't come home with them.

Ted, I love your Lycaste! I've killed every one I've bought, sofar.

Ursula, you forgot Zygopetalum on your scented list...though some of the hybrids don't have much.

This is the second flower to open in Michigan although the climate responsible for the flower is Florida. This is my third clone to flower recently.
Thumb of 2018-05-06/BigBill/4f0207

I am sure that a great many of us know Rhyncholaelia digbyana with its bright green flowers and frilly lip. One of the species responsible for floofiness!!! This clone is mounted on cork bark. I have one in a basket and the third is on pecky cypress. So any one so inclined to grow this species will have success no matter how they grow it. This bloom is nearly 6 1/2" wide. Oh yes, it has a citrus like fragrance.
Light however is still the key. Good sunshine for 3-4 hours and otherwise bright.
