Our house is in the upper right hand part of the corner lot .Everything slopes down from there and the neighbors on either side are close.
This is "The Slope" a area I just had cleaned.I will plant it with ferns and hostas. DD will probably do the digging.
I lost my balance in this area a few years ago and rolled onto my neighbors driveway. My alarm button was in the house. Its stupid I know but if I had been wearing it-it wouldnt have mattered because the first person to call was that neighbor and she wasnt home.

Joanne, do you have a good kneeler? I have one like this
http://www.gardeners.com/Garde...

I have to use a little caution with it on a slope, but I do use it whenever I garden. I love it.

I Have one just like that, I got at Walmart for 24.95. Worth it's weight in gold. Mainly I just needed a little help getting up off the ground, but the pad is really great to kneel on. Green Grin!

I understand, Jo Ann.

A nerve compression from a tumor a few years ago left me with a rather weak leg. It's not so bad, except it's hard to get up from a kneeling position. That kneeler allows me to use my arms to raise myself.

Boy, I have turned into an old lady!

Ohhh yes the arms are important.
There was a forum for gardening for those with disabilities on the other site.
I checked it out but most of the posts were from people who were much worse off than I.
Many wheelchair bound ,gardening in narrow raised beds.

My knees and legs get too sore when I kneel. I just use a small, lightweight stool - and sit.

(2011)

We took apart an "antique" one that was past its prime and made a pattern, changing just the overhang length on the long ends by adding about two inches, so that grabbing and dragging would be easier. I have short legs, so the rising from it, and lowering to it isn't much.

What a fabulous garden. I used to have one of those tractor seats on wheels. I failed to buy the model that could stear. It was such a nuiscence to lift and drag along irrecular edges when weeding borders.

I might look at garage sales for a stool like that .

My mother has a nice stool with wheels, have not seen one sence. There was no cushion though and the bars would hurt the back of my legs. Thought by now someone would have come out with something nice with a cushion by now..... Hummmm. Confused

Thanks, Jo Ann. Smiling

I'm planting lily bulbs today, while trying to keep some spaces open for others that aren't here yet. Hmm, sizes, colors, bloom times... Blinking I do wish that info was on every bag! Rolling on the floor laughing I don't ask for much, do I?
I'll probably end up with a haphazard effect, but, I guess that's about normal for me. Hilarious! One thing's for sure, they won't bloom if I don't get them in the dirt! Whistling
