Sand, I totally agree. The flowers are small but there are many of them and the patterns are gorgeous and brocade-like. I think Kolibri should go on the Tried and True thread. It's one of those I can't live without. I think if I lose mine I will get another.

So frustrating. Grumbling My camera has pics but I couldn't get them to upload yesterday AM. Something to do with confusion on my multiple hub connections. My DBF deleted one of the connections to help me and I immediately lost my keyboard and mouse connections. Someone is coming to straighten it out (DBF made all the arrangements) but if it snows too much he won't come till tomorrow. Meanwhile all my previous pics that I want to post are locked up and I'm using my DBF's computer. Anyone have some blooms?? Crying

I'm going to an orchid show in NH this weekend http://www.nhorchids.org/show2... so hopefully I'll get something in bloom. I'm also waiting for another leafless orchid from ebay with 4 spikes that will come today or tomorrow (Chiloschista segawae). Can't wait! I used to go to FL for a break from winter but now I go shopping for orchids to break the winter blues. Next weekend 2/20-2/21, I have the local orchid sale (Amherst Orchid Society). Woo-hoo!! This is my favorite way to shop for orchids. You also get to meet in person "famous" online vendors in person and they give great advice, too. I highly recommend shows! Rolling my eyes.

Blooms? Oh yes. I just played with a bunch of pics and since I am not babysitting today due to the snowstorm, I have time to post!

My Dendrobium Nestor ( parishii x superbum) fills the greenhouse with a wonderful scent of Raspberries and Rhubarb.

Here is the plant hanging in the sunshine. The little net basket with roots gets watered every day with rain water.

I didn't get a sharp plant pic, but you can see it as size comparison. This plant is mounted on Epiweb. I placed a bit of coconut fiber over the roots so the phone wire which I had used for tying the plant to the mount, doesn't cut them. ( phone wire was partially removed.)

Here is a plant I picked up last March at Longwood Garden at the SEPOS. It was slug magnet this Summer outside.
I re-potted it and did my best to keep it away from the nasty critters.

The individual flowers are not that showy, but as a whole the plant looks very graceful.

I guess I talk with pics. When I'm working with kids, I'm always drawing as I talk. So it's torture to not post pics as I type.

Thanks for posting those yummy pics. Love your pic of the Den. Nestor-what a beauty!!! My Haraella is in orchid heaven (on the thread) and it was so prolific before it died. Crying Great close up of that one, too. Cyclopogon lindleyanus 'Silver Screen' has marvelous foliage. Great job on the slugs!!!

I just came upstairs to get my close up lens, but I'm not sure I have enough light to get the shot of the Dendrochilum bicallosum from J & L opening. I love this one. Only one spike but I'll take it!

BTW Ursula, Epi Hokulea seems to have slowed down on dropping leaves in the new medium. It's so hardy I have to hope it will revive. My L. lundii x Epi. longipetalum from Brennan is budded. Must be the season. I'll be seeing Brennans this weekend at the show. Hope they bring these. http://store.brennansorchids.c...

Ursula, Could you please tell me what medium Cyclopogon lindleyanus 'Silver Screen' is growing in? Such a lovely plant.

Janice,
I used a commercial mix bought at my local regular nursery which seemed at first look way too fine and "peat-mossy" to be an orchid mix. I started using it for terrestrials as this one, and they seem to like it. For the exact brand name, it is right now in an area of my yard which isn't easy to get to. Too much snow!

Kathy, thanks. And I do understand about the need to talk in pictures.

and a closeup of Thelychiton kingianus...aka Dendrobium kingianum. All the Australian dendrobiums are now in their own genus.

Kathy, I only have the one Thelychiton and, as you know, the fragrance is wonderful!
