Bree, I love the purple Catt x, nice color and shape!! You always have some nice Paphs in bloom! Thumbs up

Carol , what a cool Coelogyne, the hairy lip is awesome! And I like the splashes on the 'Panda' very much!
About taking pictures of the Coelogynes - I try to shoot into the flower from a lower angle/tilt the pot. Sometimes you get a good piccie of the lip that way.

Thanks,all!
Bree, I love all of your paphs! I hope I can keep the one I bought alive.
Actually, I haven't seen an orchid posted on here that I'd say no to...they're all great!

Ursula, thanks for the tip on photographing the down facing flowers. My biggest problem is finding the right light without all the clutter in the background, and no breeze.

how deadly is sunburn? Do I just leave the burned plants alone?

Funny, the lanai screen prevented sunburn but as soon as I put them outside of the lanai in October. Bang - they burn. You have to be so careful not to disturb the environment they are used to. Thumb of 2010-10-15/Fred/51eebb

Fred, that can happen to me even here in New England. I leave the leaves alone for a while especially if it's spots but if they are really damaged I trim or cut them off. I did a big trim on the cyms before they came onto the porch this year. Lots of sunburn even with a shade cloth!!! I also pulled off dead leaves around the pseudobulbs on them so I can see if they are growing spikes as soon as they emerge.

I would leave the sunburned leaves alone since they are still functioning. I have a few sunburned plants too.

Yeah, it confronts a grower to leave them on staring at you saying, "You bumbling idiot! Look what you did to my lovely leaves." Just tell the plant, "Shhhhh!" Hilarious!

Wow nice fred, looks like a nice verandah set up with the pool and waterfall. oh and love the flowers. hehe!
I'd leave the sunburnt leaves on your orchids and put up shadecloth. If your orchids are use to being inside then you put them out yes they will burn, you have to gradually higher the light and get them use to it. Dont think that sunburn will kill them or anything though.

Ursula, that Potinara Hoku Gem is wonderful!
Kathy, great show. I looked for Asda. Susan Ong 'Ah Mooi's' at the last orchid sale I went to and none of the venders had heard of it. Looks like I may not find it. Sad
Todd, what a joy to see all of those wonder slippers. Have a safe but interesting trip.
