Name: Fred Rump Naples, Fl enjoying what nature has to offer
Kathy, I spend too much time on the computer as it is. There's always stuff to do outside. The weeds are taking over now that the rains have come. Just ordered a gas engine powered sprayer to stay ahead of the game and still have a garden. .
Fred, nice to see you! Things are looking good in your neck of the woods. And, how about just popping your companion plants like the Broms into the Garden thread?
Finally my Epic El Hatillo 'Pinta' is also starting to open! The blooms are still fresh hence the slightly greenish tint. I moved the plant into the shady area of the cage just to take a picture.
I have to look up the kind of bird which is nesting in my Cattleya, it is the size of a sparrow with a really sharp beak. Whenever I try to sneak a peek, she flies out as chased by furies and then sits above the cage in a tree and complaints loudly.
My Neofinetia falcata are flowering happily along, here is the mounted Fuuran again, it is doing really well this Summer.
Name: Carol Santa Ana, ca Sunset zone 22, USDA zone 10 A.
Maybe some type of Warbler? I get Yellow Rumped Warblers passing through in spring and fall that taught the sparrows how to use the Humming bird feeders.Grrr!
That Neo is fantastic!
It's got to be a wren. Does it also have a pretty song besides the scold? My plants are still pouting about the move outside. But they are starting to look happier. I have ditched the screen on the cyms which I think heated up those leaves and they don't seem any worse so far. My burned cyms.
An Epi face today. Always reminds me of Beeker on the Muppets.
It is indeed a house Wren and it does have a pretty call when not feeling threatened. Well, I suppose a little fertilizer won't harm my Cattleya. Hopefully these birds will also help keeping the bug population in check.
Keep an eye on those wrens. They like to stuff sticks into holes! They go around stuffing all my birdiehouses with sticks so no other birds can use them!! Then they choose their rental for the season!
Glad you all like my Beeker pic. Another.
Hi everybody! I had a few minutes and thought I'd pop in to see everyone's beautiful Orchids! I am soooo envious of your great orchid growing skills! My plants seem to be sporadic at best when it comes to blooming ... one of these days I will start taking better care of them and give them the conditions they need to be happy bloomers.
Last year I purchased a Broughtonia sanguinea (Splash Petal form) that I expected would have the pink splashes but when it bloomed it had pale whiteish/yellow blooms. I really love it and sent a pic to the vendor ... when I placed another order they included one in bud that has the pink splashes ... so now I have both!
