I'm really liking the miniature type orchids ... take up less space.

Lin, I bought Broughtonia sanguinea 'Star Splash' x Broughtonia sanguinea 'Full Star' as a gift for Laurel and it looked more like your red one. Very nice orchids. Here is a pic I took before giving it to her.

I think and I really 'think' that this orchid Slc. Jewel Box 'Dark Waters' is starting to form buds. I hope so, it had bloomed before Christmas and I had 2-3 weeks of blooms. LeeThumb of 2011-07-12/kevin51/05ad16

Congrats Lee but those sheaths should go into Anticipation! The thread "Anticipation 4" in Orchids forum This thread is for blooms.

Bree, they still look so pretty. How long have they been open?

Bree, very nice blooms!

I am happy - my small plant of Cym. Amazing 'Marlow Orchids' is again doing its Summer thing, it is opening a modest spike. The plant pic was taken "in-situ".

And Stenoglottis woodii ( bought a year ago from Andy) is blooming.

These are blooming wild in Nottingham England now near my friends yard. (Pardon the glare, I took a picture of her photo.)
She calls them Bee Orchids. Googled it ....Ophrys apifera var. aurita.

This is surely Ophrys, perhaps apifera.

Sorry, my response overlapped with your edit. Yes, I think you nailed it!

Thanks, Ursula!
I think it is remarkably beautiful.
Have you seen these in the wild in the US?
Found this very interesting video of the Bee orchid.
