Yay for SPRING! It's here along with an increasingly faster roll-out of vaccines. Here's to a wonderful season of renewal.

Spriiiiiing! Hurray!

I can't wait for the nicer weather. I always get so tired of the gloominess and cold. Found some bulbs poking out of the gardens outside, and some little buds starting on my blackcurrant. Spring evidence! Smiling

Thanks for the new thread, Ann, lovely daffs.

I haven't done anything for a few days, my back has been really bothering me, especially the right side where I have a bulging disc, pressing on the nerve going down my leg. So I mostly putter or sit at the computer, did a lot of photo editing, still have about 10,000 to go. Rolling on the floor laughing

Hi,
I should have spent many hours, of the many, many hours I spent online and stuck at home, on looking at google photos and a hard drive of even older photos, print what is good, discard what is not.
We showed up for neighborhood 'recreation area' cleanup, but several other men brought pickups and bright and early got a lot of fallen branches and hanging stuff loaded for the dump. That was the bulk of todays plan, so, very easy on me, I just pulled some branches from a patch for loading. Autumn Olive is in a patch there and tends to have whole branches dead- I guess it is too shady for it, that's fine.
So I'm free for the day in my own cleanup-- looking at two older bushes that I think were bad ideas years ago, and trying to get the energy to tackle removing, it is a tough job. I've done lighter cleanup instead.
Plant it and they will come.

Happy first Spring day, my Itoh peony Caroline Constabel has its first flower, I've been waiting for a year for this, from when I purchased the root online, the start of the pandemic.
This one I stuck near a BBQ and it's doing well, what a survivor.
Anyway, back to exercise, I did 45 minutes of swimming, I did try to swim a bit faster than normal, pretend I was being chased by a shark, lol, then I got bored and left.
Today I will do lots of exercise in the garden.

so pretty! My regular peonies are barely nubs.
Really nice out for working today, 50s, sunny, no wind. I did tackle the lilac and sweetshrub aka Carolina allspice. My thought is remove older shrubs that need rejuvenation, place young ones that won't need pruning for a while. Bring some sense back to the madness I created over the last 30 years of planting random new stuff every year around the yard. I do love the planting process, the sight of young growth, the dreams of future prettiness.. Also the excuse "too tired to cook dinner"...
Plant it and they will come.

After gardening, I did about 10 minutes stretching on the floor. I have this problem when I sit on the floor for a long time, when I get up, my back is bend for a few seconds before I can walk straight again. I need to do research on how to get rid of this problem. Very strange.

I had a enjoyable one hour swimming this morning, the sun was out and maybe that's why. Then we went out to eat and shopping for more vegetables and fruits for the worms. Back to our home with a cup of tea and French pastry.

Tired muscles did not slow me down much, today was beautiful again and I spent more hours digging, potting, planted snap peas, As long as I can figure something that feels productive in the yard or with plants, I can ignore most other household tasks.
Plant it and they will come.

Ugh!

I've been waking up way too early. Today it was 4 a.m. I felt sleepy and was dragging all day. I didn't do much.

Bright sun on snow is pretty though, Chip. We don't get to see it often. It's kind of special here- not that I would be happy to see any snow now before at least November 2021.. Blinking

i had no idea the extent of sleep problems until I got older. So common! Ugh. It seems like I sleep better if I take a couple ibuprofen before bed, and its not that I have pain per se, but sometimes small nagging discomfort of joints or something.. become bigger nagging the longer you lay there trying to sleep.
Plant it and they will come.

There were 2 shrubs here at our "new" place here in the RV park that got pretty well toasted with the cold weather/frost last month. One was showing signs of life again with some new leaves here and there, but there was so much dead wood in the middle that I had the SU do "chainsaw pruning" on both of them. We borrowed a saw from another park resident and the SU got on it right away and took those puppies down. I'm not sure the other bush will come back. It will have to decide that on its own. LOL The other one will; it was SO overgrown that it needed to be cut back to about 6 inches from the ground so it can start over and look like something. There were lots of shoots coming up in the yard but the SU can take care of those with the lawn mower. Rolling on the floor laughing

We have appointments for our Covid vaccinations! My first will be on April2 and my second on July 23 and they will be Pfizer or Moderna. My husband's are the day after in both cases. It took me about 30 minutes in an online queue and was quite efficient until it came to booking the date itself. I clicked on quite a few dates with no response and the list of dates scrolled down the page so far that you couldn't easily see the response. But I got it done.

Hurray! That's great Ann, it does take patience booking those dates. I am really happy that I get mine tomorrow.:hurray:

No exercise for me this week, my back is still out on the right side and pushing on the sciatic nerve, hurts right down into my foot, burning pain in my calf. Sighing! Sighing! Sighing!

That is a LONG time between shots; I thought they had to be scheduled 3 weeks apart. When we had our first one, they told us when to come and get our 2nd one. It was Pfizer also.

My husband has been retired for several years and before the lockdowns enjoyed going to a gym and using their machines. Since our move last year he hasn't had a chance to go check any new ones out. Last week we went to one near our house and he liked it a lot. I have been walking on my treadmill and doing somePilates this last year, but really feel I need to work on arms and stamina. So we decided to treat ourselves and signed up for some private trainer sessions to give us the tools to keep active as we age. I'm kinda scared I'm going to look like an idiot, but DH says it can only help us. He will be there as my cheerleader.

They are now scheduled about 4 months apart in Canada. There's ample evidence to show that they are effective that way and there's bountiful evidence that one injection protects very well against SERIOUS cases of Covid and hospitalization. With new variants popping up rapidly, it's more important for more people to receive one injection than for everyone to have had their second one. Widening the gap means that twice as many people can receive one dose in a shorter time frame.

I believe they are also extending the time between shots in the UK and their rates of infection and death have dropped dramatically. Only after we get this under control long term and the scientists can analyze everything will we be able to say for sure what is the best. All I can say now is I am glad I'm not in Brazil. That looks to be out of control.
