Gigi, isn't it fun and scary at the same time!! Have you gone onto any of the online nurseries?? I spend alot of time on those, the plants are just so interesting to me! On SMG there are times now where I'm like "hey, he's using the same photo for that plant and this one!" And that's scary to me, that I know his photos so well! Rolling on the floor laughing Rolling on the floor laughing I agree that is too scary Greg. Nope, I am very old school when it comes to purchases, I haven't bought anything online Green Grin! There is one plumeria nursery I like very much who accepts my phone in order:). Besides I like to see the plants I'm buying.

I used to feel that way, once you purchase and the plants arrive and they're as nice as the actual photo, then its hard to not buy! (especially from recommended sites!) I hear you though, oldschool is good! Isn't it funny that phone in orders is oldschool - when not too long ago that was totally like "wow" they take orders over the phone! Speaking of online nurseries, has anyone ordered at Kara nursery? I have not but they have good info, which I use to ID succulents and Aloes. The black prince is here Smiling http://www.karacactus.com/eche...

Gigi, what zone are you in? Aeoniums are frost tender although I leave mine out and they get damaged leaves but always seem to eventually recover. If they are in a sheltered spot they should be fine.
I agree that your first purchase is Echeveria 'Black Prince'. Your second one is Silver Squill (Ledebouria socialis) Silver Squill (Ledebouria socialis)

You're all welcome everyone. Maybe if there is someone in this forum who have bought from this online nursery, they can give us a feedback. I didn't realize there is a big world out there of these "little gems". My plumerias are my "gigantic gems"...that's another different world.

Sue, thank you for the IDs. I am in Tampa area but I don't know what zone is Tampa. *Blush* We seldom have frost, so I hope the Aeonium and other tender plants will do well. My is tired of hauling my plants around for winter storage.

If you rarely get frost then they definitely won't have to be brought in! Thumbs up

Enter your zip code here and then you can add your zone to your profile http://planthardiness.ars.usda...

Lynn, I have my Silver Squill in a pot on a plant shelf against the house. Over the winter they were total mush. I cleaned it up and currently it's blooming and you can't even tell there had been any damage. I have had it for years now in the same pot, I need to freshen it up and repot it. Thumbs up

Thanks Gigi based on the website, these people seem very "down to earth" and friendly!! Thumbs up
Sue, thanks for the ID, I've had this plant since 2005 and someone told me its a type of orchid, so I have continued with this assumption! Thumbs down

Does anyone else have issues with Echeveria 'Black Prince'? I have had several of those that just started shedding leaves like mad. It seems to be the only Echeveria that I have trouble growing well. All of the blue-tinted varieties seem to do very well for me.

Hi Clint..do you see if the plant is trying to make flowers? Sometimes I notice my succulents, echeveria or otherwise shed the outermost leaves to redirect energy to a new bud.
