I love Star Trek

Here is my version of a log. Well, it used to be a log. It was carved with a chainsaw by a vendor at the Puyallup Fair back in the '70s so I have had it for a while. Couldn't help but introduce my new froggy to it...

Connie how cool!! So how long will these wood planters last? I just assumed they'd wear out after a couple years, unless of course you had "catalpa" like Clint!

Obviously it lasts a long time! There have been times when it was in storage for a while. It is only about an inch deep so is suitable only for these succulents. There is a long crack on one side that drains water out. It is not an intentional crack, just something that showed up as the wood continued to cure. We also had a real nice carved salmon from the same source and I have passed that along to my son.

I too loved Star Trek.

But at this time of my life I love your log planter and frog even more than Star Trek.

My log planter is a sentimental gift from my mother in law who passed away in the '90s. I have a couple other gifts I treasure in her memory. She was an avid gardener who did a smash up job growing dahlias.

Very cool Connie. Great job!!! Sentimental gifts are the best. That reminds me I need to get some things of my mom's this weekend.

You are right, Bev. Come to think of it... I have a little tray of Jovibarba bulgaria or whatever it is called. I'll stuff one of those in there tomorrow and take another picture.

No logs close to me and too nasty to go log hunting. Northern Wisconsin is supposed to get 8-12" of snow later today! I sure hope it stays north!! Right now we're getting hail, freezing rain and high winds. I'm thinking about going back to bed for a month.

If you do, Chris, take your laptop with you so we can still communicate with you!
