What a great thread and wonderful log, stump and driftwood inspirational plantings! I am on the hunt now! I do have small driftwood pieces collected on Oregon beaches a couple of years ago, eventually I will get those planted, sooner than later I think! Thumbs up

Wow. Thanks everyone! I think everyone should have a log planter. I have seen them in magazines similar to mine and was inspired to find one. My Dad has a stump in his yard planted with Oenothera speciosa. I know that plant spreads, but it is beautiful in log/stump planters. He also has a hollow tree that he planted Delosperma cooperi in that he stood up like the grew in the ground there and died. I will get some photos when it blooms.

Good morning all. Hurray!
Bev I'm not in bed, been up for awhile catching up on threads. Everyone has been very busy this morning. Big Grin
And it isn't light enough yet to go out and plant.
I do have a flashlight though. Whistling

Hey there Sue. Can't wait to see your logs, I know they will be great. What part of the Oregon coast did you find them?
Wow, what are you doing up so late?

Clint, looking forward to seeing the photos of D. cooper in the stump. It sounds beautiful.

Yeah, I was bad Lynn, up too late! I am not even sure what beaches we stopped at Lynn, it was that same year when we were supposed to meet, on our trip home we did the drive south along the coast in Washington and Oregon, stopping along the way when we saw any interesting beaches.
I did plant a giant sea shell with some of the smaller semps you sent, I will have to go out and get a picture of them now that they have settled in. Thumbs up and I have the salvaged clay pipes I planted with sedums, not quite as natural looking as logs though.

Hurray! I did it. I braved the wind and rain, and planted my log.
Sedum, sempervivum and rosularia. I left room because all of these will soon be reproducing. You can barely see the sedum on the left side. Just very tiny starts, but they will soon wake up and take off growing.

See what you started Clint. Big Grin

There will be a new fad of log planters coming on strong.
This one is just 6" long by 5" wide. Easily moved where ever it's needed.

Good job Lynn! Love it!

Just took my seashell pic, this is one of those giant ones, maybe a foot across, but I was bad and in my speed to get them all planted before the rain came that day, I did not label them. Sad I think these may be 'Spring'?

Absolutely love the shell Sue. It might be 'Spring'. I don't remember what the other ones where that I sent.
I just looked at the list of what I sent, it is 'Spring'.

It is such a sweet and prolific little semp. It will be beautiful in that shell when it gets it's bearing.
