OK, just for fun.......Daylily circumcision.

While deadheading a seedling, I accidentally cut the tip off an adjacent bud.
It grew and bloomed regardless, in quite a nice way:

Perhaps, I should be having fun trying to circumcise other daylilies out there and see what I get. .....
Obviously, though, I rendered it sterile by cutting off the pistil. So not good for breeding. Aesthetics only.

Blooms are rare in the seedling bed. Although I did notice one weak scape just now coming up.

The Jurys Out x (Time Is Nigh x Mascara Snake) Late bloomers, not great but adding color.

I just like this one. Huge bloom, has some of that rust color that I like. I'm going to move it to a bed near the house, just to enjoy it.


My broken color EITPF x HNF seedling doing its thing today. Only 14 buds, however this is increasing each year....

Will, another poly this morning on Butterfly Music x Little Menehune #7. It is a 2020 seedling and it has 3 branches and 30 buds. It has about 6 scapes, too, so I didn't notice the polys until late in the season on the rebloom scape. I will have to take notice next year, for sure.

it's been one heck of a good year for the seedling threads and seeing these late bloomers and rebloomers is the icing on top.

The bloom on the red stocking kid is pretty Orion. Definitely one to work with.

Very cool variegated bloom Suevt. The pattern is very nice as well.

I have posted this one before, but it was a pretty bloom on Blue-capped Cordon-bleu x Oriental Eyes #4 this morning. It is a late bloomer, with lots of buds to go.

An older seedling (2017) is reblooming. I kept this one as a garden plant because it is a very prolific bloomer and a nice white. It is not as white as Gentle Shepherd, though.
