Possibly some spots in there, unless I am imagining it? Thinking

Will have to keep an eye on the next blooms. Perhaps this one is just 'standard' blotchiness.

Orion, I see spots! Curious to see subsequent blooms. Time will tell. I have used Pitter Pitter in hopes of spotted, but still waiting on seedlings to show me what they've got!

SueVT said: A couple that are, for me, unusual. First, strange color. This is a large bloom that is sort of variegated, ranging from burnt orange through purple. Sort of Grand Canyon at sunset colors. I don't know whether I like it or not!

Second, the pretty little shell pink one with lemon edge - Emerald Bay x Lightning Round. It's just so cute.

Wow, Sue, that is impressive!

Not a lot new here to post. Unfortunately, my season seems to be winding down early this year. I hope I get some rebloom Crossing Fingers!

Valerie, love #1! All lovely of course, but I like the color combination of that first bicolor. We are winding down here too, especially since the deer snacked on many plants. (Bird netting is my new best friend!) Typically, they annoy me once maybe twice, but not every night & sometimes during the day. I believe lack of rain water here has killed off what they typically eat in nature. I see such beauties here & it's motivating me to get my new ones posted!

Wow, Char! Your relief forms look like faux flowers & I mean that as a compliment, btw! those are magnificent.
Dianne, I agree sometimes simple is great too. I have some seedlings that I like because while they're not funky compared to others, they are very pretty, reliable bloomers & even have an old-timey vibe.

Ok here are some of mine that unfortunately, the deer find delicious. I have 2 stippled ones this year & one showing stripes. A first for me here. Exciting!

My only seedling of interest that is blooming now is Wings On High X Color Flash:
The odd stick things seem to have vanished, the growths at the bracts are growing and one has even bloomed. The blooms are still splotchy but are looking much better.

Thank you for all the nice comments and thumbs! I tip my hat to you. It's been a slow process getting northern relief form sdlgs where they are now.

I'm still going back to look at your big purple SueVT! It is so awesome looking. Getting those huge full form blooms hardy and performing well up this way is a great goal to have. Thumbs up

Welcome to the group Joyce. I really like your red pattern. Red and purple patterns are a wide open area to explore. The stipple is cool, too!

Larry, my bract "things" are doing the same. Blooming and growing like an odd prolif. I wonder if there was some growth error due to weather while the branches were forming that caused then to stub, for lack of a better term, then continue growing buds.

Your hot colored first one and the last one Sue. Thumbs up

Looking quite different to the first seedling (that had solid leaves https://garden.org/thread/view... ).
[Edited to add: The original stable variegated Rock Solid was a sport from a plant in Ukraine. Rich Howard bought the plant on the LA, and selfed it. I was one of the people to get some seeds last year. I do hope the Ukranian guy is still OK.]

I think I like 3 the best. More round, and more red than purple. I may have more sibs to go yet, before deciding on a winner.

I like 3 the best, too, Orion. The variegated leaves are interesting, I hope the plants thrive.

Sue, I like the first red flower. The pinched petals add interest, I think. I think it is personal taste whether you like that form or not!

Due to the current heat wave even the seedlings in my irrigated beds suffer - but this one stands out: one of the last to start (sibling of GG Miss Melba), taller, later, larger flowers, more buds (flowers ususally until October).
Picture taken at 8 p.m. after another dry day with 95°F/35°C - still beautiful, but not as melon yellow as in the morning:
