Thank you so much jmorth. I was given this wonderful plant in 2007 and I never knew the name. When you posted yours, I searched it out and mine is a Peruvian Daffodil as well.

Yours ,I believe is
Family: Amaryllidaceae
Genus: Hymenocallis
Species: festalis
Synonym:Ismene x festalis

Mine is
Family: Amaryllidaceae
Genus: Hymenocallis
Species: narcissiflora
Synonym:Ismene calathina

Mystery finally solved. Thanks again so much. I love this plant.

Susan, my flower is about 5 to 6" across

Those Peruvian Daffs would be so nice for a moon garden! Are both of you enjoying the fragrance? As much as I enjoy my potted tender bulbs, I need to get a few of these again. Had some for several years until one year I had the bright idea to see if they would survive the winter in the ground....they did not :-(.

Neal, mine has been in the ground since 2008 and even survived all of our freezes this past winter. I thought for sure it was a goner, as it dies back. But, as soon as it was safe, up she came. Because I didn't even know what it was, I just enjoyed it for the foliage for the first two years. I was so surprised to see the blooms this year. And now she has a name. I love it. It doesn't have any fragrance at all, but that's ok. When the morning dew is on the bloom, the center of the bloom becomes translucent. It is so pretty.

Ah, I thought all the species were fragrant. Mine was more like jmorth's as I recall. So lovely and unusually shaped, a winner with or without fragrance!

Started repotting in early May, probably took most of the month. Theres probably 300 tubers in Gloriosas in about 12 or 15 pots plus all the others summer bulbs in containers.
Pic is pot of Stargazers.

jmorth, is Crysyn the name of that lily? I tried looking it up and can't find it. The reason I looked it up is because it looks so similar to the Farolito that I posted earlier. I was wondering if I had the wrong name on mine.

Hi Everybody!

Neal, just wanted to let you see what's going on with my Ornamental Kale Container since you gave me the idea of replacing the Kale with Caladiums.

Here it was back in April when I originally planted it...

Thumb of 2010-04-12/Katg/a6c1e7

The Kale got huge and I actually cooked it with smoked turkey and it was delicious!

Thumb of 2010-05-31/Katg/5fba32 Thumb of 2010-05-31/Katg/bcbcd9

When I cut the Kale, I left the roots and stem and it's now regenerating! I filled in some spaces left by the huge kale with Caladiums and it's now a brand new pot!

Thumb of 2010-07-14/Katg/97394e

Thanks again!
