My ears get terribly cold and "burny" when the cold wind blows. Therefore I have all kinds of ear muffs for when I'm not using a head covering. Most of my winter jacket pockets hold these little things that look like furry shower caps that hook around your ears!!

Ear muffs are awesome! I got a pair last year when I was walking my sister's big dogs every day. Some days the wind was terrible, and wearing a hood made it too hard to turn my head to check for cars behind me.

Yup. Cold and windy-raw here, too! Mostly staying indoors as much as we can.

We had no snow in our immediate area, but when we drive out a little further we do see snow on the ground. I'm convinced that we live in a micro climate a little warmer than 6a.

I have never tried ear muffs but I bet they would be a great idea.

I have so many leaves on my driveway to use as mulch so my project till it is done is getting all the pre winter mulching done. But today I just walked around with my dog.

The ear muffs with the band over the head, never stay on right for me, so I use headband type or those little things that look like furry jar or bowl covers that slip over the ears. I think these resemble little animal ears.

I think the ones I got are meant for a child; they fit pretty tightly, and I have a small head. But they're red, with leopard spots, so they are sartorially unsurpassable.

Plus, warm.

Rita, we have so many leaves! I was watching my neighbor collect yet more today, bags by her back fence, and I wonder if I should bring them over here. We also finally had leaf fall from the mulberry that leans over the fence, and they need to be gathered. I may do that tomorrow. Tomorrow is forecast to be warmer again, in the fifties.

I hate to see the leaves go to waste. They are free and make really, really great mulch. I end up mulching my garden heavily each fall because this is when I get free supplies. If I wait till spring I have to buy straw. Better to use those free leaves.

Gosh my yard is a mess. After all the wind blowing leaves around, after my mulching with leaves and trying to get them all on the garden beds instead of around the lawn and especially after last nights rain, it us a messy mess around my garden. Too wet to try and clean up the last of the leaves. It will have to dry out some.

I have no excuse for not working in the garden as I already went to the supermarket on Friday and bought all my food and fixins for thanksgiving. Did not want to wait until this week and crowded stores to do it. Can even cook the turkey a day early. Might do that since the forecast for Wednesday is not one for being outside anyway.

Soon, you will have nice snow to cover up all that mess, Rita. Here, we just get the mess, generally. I do expect it will snow but it won't for a while and it won't keep covered.

We had rain and then today warm wind, so, yep, a mess. However Iam pleased that most of the mulching leaves have stayed put, only blowing around a bit. Most of what's blowing around and about is leaf fall that never got raked up and coralled, as it were. :D

I am still looking to figure out how to assemble a bin to hold leaves.

Eh, the other thing happened in the rain last night is my tray of teeny semp rosettes that I had been keeping dry got soaked! I guess the rain blew in because the shelf over top does not leak. It is open at the side but that had not been a problem before.

Thank goodness today is warm and somewhat sunny! My babies can safely dry out before it gets freezing again.

It's always something. Green Grin!

Yes, warm today. Feels like spring ha-ha. I have to go scoop out the water hyacinths from my pond that got mostly frozen in the past cold snap. They are not gonna recover as that cold will be coming right back. And I don't want them to die and rot and sink into the bottom of the pond to make a stinking mess. Leaves blowing in there are bad enough.

Well, I did manage to clean out my pond and the water hyacinths are gone. Couldn't wait any longer as the day may be warm today but that is not gonna last.

The leaves are still laying around the yard and lawn, still need some cleaning up to do yet.

I do have all my garden beds nicely mulched with fall leaves as I do each fall.

Got a bit of outside work done today but mostly washed the windows inside while Ric washed them outside. My parents BD's Dad's yesterday and Mom's today so I spent most of the day visiting and taking them to lunch. We stopped at the store on our way home and got most of what I need for the big feast on Thursday.

I am charging my car battery again today. Not really garden related but something I needed to do. Last week I bought one of those Battery Tender Trickle chargers on Amazon. Sunday I put it on the car battery. Took twelve hours till it reached 80% charged so my stupid battery really was drawling low.

Unhooked it after that as I have to run the lines from inside the house. Today it only took 3 hours to get to the 80% charge. Still charging but later will unhook it again. But this is going to be good as maybe I can finally get thru a winter without getting a dead battery like it does every winter.

I get one every winter. This car HAS to be driven every day or the battery runs down. I just don't drive that much. Especially in the winter. And even with me going out there starting the car, the battery goes dead each winter. Decided I have had enough of that and bought the trickle charger.

No gardening here we have a small amount of snow but that pretty much put a stop to any outside gardening. We have another blooming Orchid.
So now I have two very smelly Orchids in the living room and it smells so good in here.
