@gasrocks Gene, if you are seeing ads on the site, you can block them by going to your profile page.

Click on the little blue person icon at top right of any page.
Click on "View Your Profile"
Click on "Change Your Site Preferences"
Scroll down to the 8th or 9th line and click on "Disable Ads on Site"
Select "Yes, Remove the Ads"
Scroll to bottom and click on the green "Save Your Changes"

You should no longer see any ads.

I've had my Philo xanadu for 8 years and it hasn't been re-potted in a long time. I either need to put it in the ground or find a larger container.

Stush2019, living in the southern zones has it's advantages (growing all sorts of tropical plants) and it's disadvantages .... the miserable humidity!

Not to mention the bugs!

Yep! And Alligators ... and Snakes ... and Lizards ... and Sharks ... and ....

I live in zone 8 and it's still too cold to grow stuff like that year-round. I envy the almost everything is invasive FL.

Hey ... anyone who wants Arrowhead Plant or Virginia Creeper or Sword Fern, can come on down and help themselves.

We just moved to this house on May 1st and although I've been grumbling about a bunch of stuff taking over a lot of the property, I won't complain about the Staghorn Ferns I've been finding growing on palm trees and dead palm stumps ... these are keepers!

How cool is that. I'd love to find that kind of plant treasure in my yard.

You are right. Don't miss the hot sticky 100 degree weather one bit. But 10 below is painful also. But we almost never get this. Since retired, don't have to go out in the snow or cold now and life is so much better. I did visit a friend who lived in a Florida retirement plan in Clearwater. It was the best week vacation I ever had. It was in February. Almost wish I could afford a place just for the winter months. I could visit the Sunken Gardens every day, and so much to see and do in Tampa. Just walking the beach every morning is great.

When I first moved to Wisconsin I can remember that one winter we had 4 nights in a row where it got down to minus 27. Snow looks wonderful when you are inside and do not have to go anywhere. Gene

Stush, Xanadu are so fun to watch take over all available space. I am still missing mine too. Gave it to a Hotel, Roommate did not like it, and she paid half the rent.

Talk about taking up room in my small house! Philo. Giganteum about to go inside for the winter. I have 3 this size and 4 just a little smaller. Whew. Sorry but I can't help myself, they are just so cool. Gene
