Looks like you'll get some wind Thursday, yes, fizzle you storm! They are no fun.
Good question about age of adeniums. I've been trying to make up my mind about this for a while now. So far, it's---
1. newborn Two little 'leaves' which are not really leaves, the cotyledons. like a bean sprout, the 'bean' things that flap out, ??? I'm having a goofy day.
2. baby, when first true leaves appear.
then I'm kind of stuck, they just grow leaves and stems for several months, five minimum.
3. first bloom, adolescence? -- still a scrawny little stick with some leaves and flowers at the top. But they can make seed pods the first time they bloom. As with humans and other critters, better to let them mature some more.
4. second bloom, they can change some when they bloom again!
5. three years old, full adult. ??? I got this from a nurseryman in India. He grows huge caudexed plants by three years, by putting young ones in five gallon pots. By huge caudex, I mean one weighing twenty pounds or more. He says that's about the maximum they grow quickly.
I'll go pose this subject to the experts in the Yahoo group.
