I get exactly what you're saying about the symmetry and for once I can blame this one on the dh. I didn't even want to plant them in a row much less a row on each side but it was his birthday gift and that's how he wanted them planted so he got his wish. I used to go crazy if things weren't symmetrical but I've gained an entirely new perspective over the last number of years and want nothing to look like it was planted with any plan in mind.

I went outside and took some pics in the back yard today. Did it between 4 to 5 pm, as I was afraid I'd forget around sunset when the light would've been better. Then I realized after it got dark that I'd forgot to take pics in the front of the house. *Blush* Maybe I can do that on Monday.

Looks like everything is about to pop in your garden Marilyn. I love the variegated leaves on those crocus.

Dirt, you frame your photos so beautifully! Its so cool how my imagination fills in what is outside the frame, and I envision more rocks and mountains beyond. The first time I saw one of your pics showing some street and neighborhood I couldn't believe it was the same garden! Your Crocuses are gorgeous!

Annette, I've found Lilac Beauty and the other tommies are typically ignored by rodents, and they naturalize the best for me too.

No symmetry here. My front yard gardens are really nicely planted and done (even if I say so myself!). But the right side and the left side look totally different even in the hard scape terracing done. Different planting altogether.

Beautiful pictures and signs of spring. Unfortunately, daffs are only either and inch or so out of the soil and some just breaking thru the ground. Snow just melted in back yard where there is less sun. I have a question for those especially, Neal and Marilyn about the Eranthus hyemails. I was given a few from my husbands cousin that lives in Indiana. To no avail, I can not get them to grow. Mine are planted in rich black soil around our Maple tree where so many other things survive, today I noticed I have ONE that flowered. It is possible they may have gotten crowded out by the lamium. I heard they do not like to be transplanted. I am zone 5a, Illinois. Any suggestions? I have been trying unsuccessfully to get them started. Thanks for any advice.

Blue eyed grass along with persicaria Red Dragon. Only the grass is a bulb, but I'm just happy to see emerging growth on anything. I'm getting off to a slow start but if the weather keeps up, things will be in full swing soon.

Thanks Ann! I tip my hat to you. That's the way crocus leaves look. I didn't think about them being variegated before, but I love they way they look too! Lovey dubby Thumbs up

Hopefully, Neal @gemini_sage can help you out better than me. I don't remember planting the Eranthus hyemails (Winter Aconite) before and if I did, it was years ago and they're just now coming up.

Doglover , Eranthis gave me trouble the first few attempts. Tried bulbs and only a few showed, and a few show up there every year, but never increase much. Those that are succeeding came from a friends garden, where we transplanted them while green. They are increasing well by seeding. You can see emerging seedlings around these.

Species Daffodil (Narcissus Jonquilla) has it's first blooms today! Boy these are tiny little blooms but they pack a punch in the aroma department. Heavenly! I will have to get many more of these for them to make a visual impact out there in the grove. They are bright but they need to be in a huge drift for anyone to notice.

If I didn't screw up when I was making my chart and it's entirely possible I did; this is N. Sweetness. We will find out tomorrow if I got it correct.

Thanks Neal. I will just have to be patient and keep trying. Perhaps I will try a completely new area, where the lamium is not taking over. I will try to twist his cousins wrist a little and hope she will send me some more.........in the green, so I can plant them soon. I am not one to give up. Hope hers survived the winter. Good luck with your gardening.

Nice blooms everyone. I ran around like a nut when I got home from work to snap a few pics of the blooms this evening. The unseasonably warm weather has the spring bulbs popping out their blooms. I noticed my 1st tulip bloom today.

Loving the show- yayyyy!!!! Spring has truly arrived!

Ann, I meant to mention earlier and forgot, about your question about the grass already being green here. There's a lot of bluegrass here, and its a cool season grass, so its often greener in winter than in August.

So many new beautiful blooms, the foliage on the tulips is just so clean and fresh looking! Certainly Tulips are one of the prettiest bulbs to flower, but I don't have much luck with them out in the garden here.

Beautiful Annette! Like Larry, I too love tulips but they will not grow here. Well, they will but only for 1 season & the next year you have to get new bulbs & plant them. We just don't have enough cold and I can not stand the thought of such beautiful bulbs dying each year not to mention that would get quite costly.

Ahhhhh Neal, I completely forgot about Kentucky bluegrass.
