I really like High Noon. It has been growing well for me even though it is only in its third season. Ironically, I planted this in spring in a semi shaded location. It did not like it. So I moved it to its present location the following fall. It has been happy since in its full sun location. Your last pic looks like a rockii tree peony, graycrn4u.

gray, you're so fortunate to find a tree peony with that many blooms. Both of your tree peony blooms are beautiful.

Pink Hawaiian Coral has 4 more buds that will open soon.

You are correct. The hybrid is a cross between P. suffruticosa and P. rockii that I got 2 years ago from TreePeonyGarden. Best smell of all my TPs.

Welcome Nick. I am looking forward to seeing your peonies in full bloom. Welcome!

Anette, love your Raspberry Charm. I have a soft spot for those red-pink peonies. Your pink NOID is also charming. Hurray!

Graycrna4u, your High Noon will be beautiful. High Noon can fill the garden with its fragrance. Its flowers are also long lasting. Do you know the name of your Rockii hybrid?

It will be interesting to see how you, Nick, and I do in timing for growth and blooming. I printed a list of mine with their current and historical growth dates. Need to print another with bloom dates. I will send to you and Nick so we can compare any that we may have in common. Location. Location. Location. My pink noid graft that took over where Shojuraku should have been. The Foxglove in the back was planted several years ago.

Lovely blooms, everyone!!

Karen - in answer to your question in regards to the average temps in my area - average highs in the winter is around 50-55, average lows are 40 or so. We get maybe 14 days of 32 or below, with the lowest of 27 degrees. It is rare that we get more than 2 freezing nights in a row. Spring temps start in March and can get up to the 70's, but mostly 60-65 degrees. Last frost day is the mid January or so. That is just enough winter chill hours for most of my peonies to bloom. I only have 1 or 2 species out of 50 that has not bloomed. Summers can get over 100 degrees by as early as mid-May. But, with the low humidity, and the cool delta breeze in the evenings, the summers here are not bad. I turn on the AC only when I am expecting company since my house is fairly well insulated. So, as far as peonies go, it is important to plant early bloomers so that all blooming is done before the heat comes. Protection from afternoon sun is a must. Tree peonies bloom first at the end of March, herbaceous ones start second week in April, with the ITOH in between. TP Kinkaku blooms later than the early blooming herbaceous ones. All blooms are finished by mid-May.

As some of you are just starting your peony season, mines is half over. Red Charm bloomed late last week and only mid to late season ones are left.

Gray - love your High Noon. It is almost reasonably priced now - I remember how expensive it used to be when it was first available.

Annette - Raspberry charm is also one of my favorites. Here is mine.

An update on Raspberry Sundae - within the plant, there is quite a variation from having a mostly pink center, to a very light center with lots of yellow.

It is true about Coral Charm and Red Charm being good cut flowers. It was hard to capture the red of of red charm in the yard. The true color is between the outdoor shot of the plant and the Red charm in the vase.

By the way, the nights are again below 0 overhere. Sighing!

I'm doing a happy dance around the garden. The peonies are blooming so quickly now. We had rain this morning, and threats of severe weather this afternoon, hopefully the plants won't sustain too much damage. Here are a few blooms from this morning.
