pirl said:Hurrah! The hurricane, Joaquin, will miss Long Island and head way east of us, so Rita and I will be safe. We've had a lot of rain and it will continue for another 24+ hours.

Yup. Yesterday when I had pulled up Weather Underground on my computer (as I do every morning) there was a big Red Box around Tuesday. Meaning that is when it was expected to hit. Last night the projected tracking showed it turning more out to sea. So hurry. And this morning, no red box for Tuesday showed.

Yup, lots of nasty weather here. Rain and somewhat windy but not related to the hurricane. We are happy here on Long Island that it will go way East and out to sea.

Good luck over there in the coastal side! Sometimes the hurricane is far but its outerlying winds induces further the existing inland storms or blocks its exit. It happens often in my homeland, during our southwest monsoon season, typhoons hundreds of miles away is inducing the monsoon rain, so creates more intense rainfall and flooding. Hope that Category 4 status dissipates some more as it skirts to the north further away. Group hug

We are very cool now and some areas of the property show signs of frost. We've gotten down to 37. But the sun in shining!

There is still life in our first prairie patch, plenty of insects for the migrating birds to feed on. Oh! I had fun back there today, though I wish I had gloves. My hands got really cold while holding up the camera so long.

Back to 80 tomorrow, then 65 Friday. Rain chance tomorrow fallen to 20 %. We have had little rain in 3 weeks < 3/8 inches. At least the low 40s lows have vanished for a week or two.

@davidlmo I will be headed up your way in a few weeks. I am flying up (charter) for the MSU-MO football game, Thursday, Nov. 5. I hope the weather will be football'ish, not too cold and not wet. I don't think I have to worry about heat by then. Whistling

Just be glad your Tigers are not in the West. Ask Georgia.

I have only been in the UM stadium once, and that was at least 30 years ago. All I remember about the stadium was that when one entered, you walked down, not up, to your seats. Oh, I also remember we lost. Thumbs down

Shallow pockets. Whistling Otherwise, it would have been a two-day trip, with air to KC, two nights in a hotel, meals, and car rental. When I compared the pricing, the up-and-back air-charter came out to be less expensive. I am actually quite frugal. Sighing!

Fall definitely showed up here in early October - seems the temps dropped overnight, there is that nice chill to the air, and we're enjoying drizzle and rain. Nice weather to do a garden walk-about, make plans for next season, and do some clean-up. Tons of birds, I assume many are on their migratory paths. And what gorgeous fall color we're getting this year - love that.

Me too, Cheryl. I am going to finish mowing this afternoon. This will probably be the last time though. The next time I hope to use my mower is with the bagger, mulching oak leaves for my raised garden and compost pile.

It's warmed up! I do not remember what today's high is to be, but it got up to 79 here yesterday. The Asian Beetles are trying to take over the house again. Sad When it warms up, they are active. This morning I saw a Monarch butterfly. We still have some flowering plants that have nectar, so it would have some food. I sure hope it makes it all the way to Mexico.

Our weather is slowly getting cooler as the weeks go by. Partly cloudy, high of 88F, low of 79F. My adeniums are enjoying the cooler climate and putting forth flower buds again...they did not like the previous weeks of hot temperatures during our "rainy" season.

Day temps are in the 80s and may slip up to low 90s for a day or two next week. Night temps are in the mid-40s.

No rain forecasted for the next 10 days ... Thumbs down

It hasn't been cold enough at night to trigger the fall color change in the leaves. It may suddenly turn cold and all of the leaves will drop at once and we may not see fall color this year.

Yikes. Tropicals must go cuckoo with 90s day and mid 40s nites.

Hilarious! Hilarious!

You are right. Tropicals won't make up here. The winter temps are colder, but there is still at least a 30 degree difference between day temps and night temps.

After Niala passed us by to the South, giving us heavy rains, Hurricane Oho formed to south east. It meandered around for a few days once again threatening us and giving us heavy showers and then it jumped on a jet ski and is headed off to Canada at about 40 miles an hour.
We have now returned to typical tradewind weather with afternoon and night time showers and less humidity. Should be like this for a few days
Another tropical cyclone may form to our south east and head our way next week. Forecast is really iffy so will take what we can for now.

Tropical Storm Nora is about 1000 SE of Hawaii. Forecast to come closer but turn north and then east well away from us.
