Elaine I agree tooo pricey! I can buy a good car with that price.

On the other hand, it made me feel good that my Vanda now feels like a complete bargain. Big Grin

The two carpenters finished up their work for the day, and the younger one, probably in his mid to late twenties, told me that he loves plants. He first tried to buy my Vanda Sunlight 'Orange'....I declined. He then spotted a nice 1 1/2 year old staghorn mounted on a cypress knee. He bought it. Then he saw two-staghorns mounted on the opposite, epoxy side of a cypress knee (I finish and seal one side) and said growing the two side-by-side, showing both sides would be neat. He bought this one as well. I joked with him that he probably needs to work on another job-site in the future and that he can't afford spending time here. Whistling He said he'll be back tomorrow and have more cash................just in case. Thumbs up

We'll make another run before long and welcome all who want to join us. I would like to wait for better weather before we go. I'd love to get Ursula and Kathy up there.

Yes, but as you say, let it cool down a bit. Those greenhouses must be crazy warm in this weather.

Hi all! I'm baaack! And it feels sooo good!
Feels like i've been gone forever,(about 4 months) and it looks like it too! All of you, and your orchids appear to have been very busy! It's going to take a long time for me to try to catch up here!
I had foot surgery done in March. I never dreamed that the recovery would take so long! Made me think that I should probably get myself a laptop instead of this desktop. hahaha!

Managed to do this recovery without "killing" a single orchid! They all seem to be hanging in there with much neglect!
My noid Den. is blooming, and another is in bud mode...Anticipation!

Gigi, last October, for my birthday, I received a Vanda just like yours from Publix. I didn't realize it was so pricey. (bless his heart Lovey dubby )
Since then, it's bloomed twice more! I didn't let it stay long in that acrylic 'vase'. After just a week I added a hanger, and it's 'free flowing', and doing really well!
It's become one of my favorites!

I am glad to hear that you are on the mend, Tara. Your flower is similar to that of my Dtps. Luschia 'Pink' and Den. Compactum 'Pink'.

Tara, that's good to know! You are lucky, that is a great fifth

The vendor's website said that this will bloom every 3 to 5 months. Did you keep this indoor? Did you trim it to rebloom or did it just re-bloom on its own? Would love to know your secret for making it rebloom.

Ken, the last one for sure because it is also. Den but it doesn't have the veining. My currently blooming no ID orchid looks like Tara's. I will take a pic tomorrow.

A $1, the cheapest I got on clearance at our Lowe's is 50% off. That's a super great deal!

Gigi, I kept it indoors during the winter months, while in bloom, but it's since been hanging outside on my front porch...Getting lots of sun. The only trimming I've done is cutting back the spent flower stems. Regular daily misting, and an occasional feeding. Weakly, weekly. Smiling

The baby Vanda in the picture to the right is another Lowe's clearance "rescue". Don't know if I'll ever see this one bloom, but it's doing extraordinarily well. The roots are growing like crazy!

The Vanda looks great, Tara. It certainly should bloom - if not, give it more sun, that should do it!

Very pretty show, Bert. I think these are the correct names:

Rlc. Waianae Leopard 'Ching Hiu' (Rlc. Peach Cobbler x C. Penny Kuroda)
Den. Enobi Purple 'Spalsh' (Den. Enobi Komachi x Den. Laguna Princess)
Rlc. Toshie Aoki 'Sunburst' (Rlc. Faye Miyamoto x Rlc. Waianae Flare)

I can't be sure about clonal names but looking through past awards and pictures, I'm guessing your Toshie Aoki is 'Starburst' rather than 'Sunburst'
Also, if I had to bet on it, I think the Waianae Leopard is 'Ching Hua', not 'Ching Hiu'
The 'Splash' is fine.
