My Brent and Becky's order was to have been delivered Thursday 12-3 said a Fed X notification on Wed, 12-2. Now that notification says: 'No scheduled delivery date available at this time'...

That's worrisome! They hire extra drivers this time of year- I have had an occasional snafu with packages left at the wrong house in December.

I got a few planted yesterday after work, hope to make more headway today.

Marilyn, it has been several years, and hasn't happened since I've lived in this town, but at my previous home in eastern KY, it was a problem. I truly lived at the end of a "holler", in the middle of the woods, and the last house before hitting my property was where 3 very backward, and I suspect mentally disabled women lived- 3 generations. My bulbs were left on that porch and they took it inside, but didn't tell me they had it. I tracked the package down and stopped and asked. The youngest met me at the car and I asked if she had received a package of mine. She didn't say a word, but went inside, came back with a piece of paper with my name on it and asked if that was me. I said it was and she went back inside and retrieved my bulbs. It was so strange... Anyhow, some of the bulbs that time were soft from having frozen, probably on their porch.

Thankfully, service from both USPS and UPS has been reliable here Smiling

Today the weather has been great, so I put a good dent in the pile of bulbs and got about half of them planted. I'm pretty excited about spring- several of these additions were unplanned, but I think I'll be really happy with them.

I also have been outside today. Planting bulbs, potting cannas, winter clean up. I am usually a tremendous procrastinator so for me to be clipping back dead and dying foliage already is a big step. Angel

@Kabby Hurray! Rolling on the floor laughing ! So glad you hit that send button! I can't wait to see your spring pictures!

The weather was also gorgeous here today, and I spent most of the day in the front yard. I got the street bed and the mailbox beds done. The 80 Ollioules and Flaming Jewel tulips were planted in the street bed, along with the pansies and snapdragons. I have the pleasure of a a new utility access box smack dab in the middle of this bed, thanks to AT&T😡. I'm hoping that when the snapdragons mature, they'll cover this ugly thing.

The mailbox was planted with Parrot tulips, Sancerre, and Renown tulips along with King Alfred Daffs and pansies. The bulb total planter today was 150.

Nice haul Kabby! Thumbs up

Well done Annette! Thankfully that AT&T box is flat and your bedding plants will obscure it nicely.

I was on a roll yesterday and kept on planting after my break. Got all the bulbs in the ground! Hurray! The only thing left to plant are 10 eremurus roots. I think I'll expand a bed today and group them all together.

My first year and used Becks wholesale, Holland Bulb farms, and Lowes. All prices were about the same and I received very big lily, daf, hyacinth, allium, and tulip bulbs, despite what the reviews and critics said. A look around right now and a lot of stuff is sprouting already Hurray!
Gimme it and I'll grow it!

Gabriel, I've had really good luck with Lowe's bulbs the last few years. I couldn't find Beck's wholesale, but did see Breck's wholesale- is that who you bought from?

I see mixed reviews on Holland Bulb farms and haven't tried them. A lot of vendors get poor reviews based upon poor quality perennials and plants, but do better with bulbs. Bulbs are easy to ship without damaging unlike other nursery stock, and less likely to screw up, LOL. A word of caution with lilies though, I'm careful about obtaining them from cheap Dutch sources because I have received virused bulbs in the past. Not a big danger unless you grow a lot of other lilies. I had the infection spread and got it under control, but still find an infected plant from time to time.

Mid to upper 50s here today, but I had to spend the day volunteering at a local game refuge for Eagle days. Saw 12 Bald Eagles, hundreds of swans, 10s of thousands of ducks and several hundred thousand Canadian Geese (est at 400 K - will be a million in 3 or 4 weeks). So no bulb planting for my latest haul. *Blush* And tomorrow must finish my outdoor Christmas lights. Maybe Tuesday.

David, your volunteer work at the game refuge sounds interesting.

It was a beautiful day here. I spent the afternoon replanting what was left of the Blushing Lady and Pink Cubed tulips under the 2 Kwanzan cherry trees. I put down deer mesh this time, so there should be no further loss of bulbs. I noticed while digging, the Pink Charm daffs (thanks again Neal I tip my hat to you. ) planted earlier this fall have rooted nicely in these 2 beds, and are starting to put up leaves.

I had a bed of bulbs in front of my other Laurapetalums that were planted on January 5, 2014, and they bloomed well that spring. They were 50 each of N. Little Gem, Muscari comosum plumosum, and a Giant Crocus Mix. They did not bloom well in the spring of 2015. The Laurapetalums have grown quite a bit, and the bulbs were partially shaded. I dug them all out this evening, sorted and rinsed them, and they'll get replanted, along with some of the Pink Tulip Mix further out in this bed, later on this week.

I did lose some of the crocus in the bed, thanks to the critters, however, the ones left have multiplied nicely, and I'll also be adding some crocus Ruby Giant.

Sorry for the blurry pics, it was dusk when I took these.

Very cool to observe David! I didn't realize swans were native- they must be striking in person! Aren't they quite large?

Nice progress Annette! Hopefully the critters will leave Ruby Giant alone- they're a tommasinianus and should be less attractive to the squirrels. That tulip combo will be stunning with your Kwanzan cherries! The staggered bloom times will ensure seeing that echo of pink together. In fall of 2014 I planted a Kwanzan cherry in the pink bed where several of the pink tulips and white daffodils have been planted this fall. The tree had a few blooms this spring, looking forward to some similar echos!

Yesterday afternoon I extended a bed and planted the 10 eremurus 'Spring Valley hybrids', the last of the 50% off bulbs are snugly planted and got watered in last night when it rained. Ah, I'm so glad I ignored the forecast and hurried to get those bulbs planted! It makes my present muscular soreness seem worthwhile Smiling
