Heh. Fer sure. I went to Lowes for some Bullseye Amber shellac to finish a closet I am making for DW. Now it was not bulbs (They are STILL ONLY 75 % off!! The shame. Green Grin! ) but I purchased 3 items for $ 3 each. Big Grin

Huge Poinsettia (reg $ 15)
Small Phalaenopsis orchid (reg $ 9)
Optunia (consolea) falcata cactus

Now please don't ask about the latter two nodding I really cannot explain it. I WAS waiting for the Pointsettia prices to come down and they did. I showed it, but not the other two to DW. Rolling on the floor laughing

My last Brent & Becky's Bulbs arrived today, all potted up to force. Dedicated refrigerator in basement is full; 8 pots left over and a large lily pot (5 Muscadet + 5 Stargazer) will be placed in covered stairwell for their cold period.
Nothing that's been done can ever be changed.

Is anyone else experiencing early growth from spring blooming bulbs? I thought I was nuts (may be I am😳) thinking the growth was too early.

The foliage from the Dutch Iris and muscari has been up for months, which is normal here, but I haven't seen foliage up from the hyacinths or daffs this early before. It's mainly Hyacinth City of Haarlem, and daff Sir Winston Churhill in the back yard along with daff Tripartite in the from garden. Allium Schubertii has also put up foliage🙄!

The Lycoris that I had gotten as bonus bulbs from OHG have also grown, they did nothing for a whole year.

Then, I have irises blooming in December.

I saw a post from Backyard Gardener about daffodils blooming g in the UK and Holland in December, which is even more strange, so I searched the web, and here's an interesting article.

The irises are for sure rebloomers. As of the rest, welcome to a El nino winter. The cold is knocking on the Door in Jan. and Feb. I have several Dafs pushing up 3 to 4 inches and other spring blooms poking thru. Hopefully moderate weather for you in GA. The guys on the iris forum would love to see those iris rebloomers though!! We're nuts!!
Gimme it and I'll grow it!

LOL, Gabriel, as stated above, I know I'm nuts, for gardening that is Smiling

The irises are rebloomers, Feedback, and Harvest of Memories. They're just blooming really late!

The weather here is really strange, we've had several nights of frost, but is forecasted to be 75 degrees on Christmas Day Blinking Shrug! , really strange for north GA.

Same is happening here too Annette, bulbs are sprouting all over the garden. Not so much the newly planted bulbs, but those already present are growing.

I am just sick about the warm weather we are having in zone 8b. It is expected to get to 81 by Sunday. I am afraid my daffodil buds will blast. Sad

I saw an article the other day talking about daffodils being in full bloom right now in the UK, the earliest they've bloomed in several years. @sallysmom what varieties do you grow? Many that perform well in zone 8 require very little cold. Hopefully you'll just see earlier blooms rather than bud blast.

I do not know if it will work in warmer areas but...........Spring bulbs were a waste for me I use to never get to see blooms because my weather has always been strange. I save a lot of my leaves in the Fall because we have a tendency to warm up in March to 60s and have a big storm 3 weeks later.

Then we warm up again in April and have a snow storm and cold for 2 weeks. I would not get blooms because they would come up, the ones that survived the March crazy and the one week of good weather in April blooms start to open and we get a big snow ice storm.

In March when they start to come up. I throw a big load of leaves on top. Then April I see them coming up through the March mulch. I once again throw the leaves on. So by the end of April I am safe to let them come out into the world.
