Hurray! We're glad to hear that all is well. You have some really nice neighbors to come help out. I think that sharing your bulbs with them is a really nice gesture. Thumbs up

Thanks @Kabby, I'm glad your plants didn't get damaged! It's wonderful that you have such good neighbors.

Unfortunately, the water flowed through my front bed as expected, and washed away all of the soil and pine bark that was replaced, so I'm looking at exposed hyacinth and tulip bulbs again Grumbling

Thankfully, I'm off until Monday, so I'm going Lowes and HD to see what I can find to put around the edge of the bed to prevent this from happening again. I will also need to replace the pansies that washed away Crying

We had really heavy rains again last night and today. A state of emergency was declared for several of our counties. I'm thankful we live up on a hill, so we don't flood. Repairing the bed is minor, compared to some folks who have to do home repairs Sighing!

Sorry for all you folks with the water problems.

My state is under emergency as well (we have > 20 deaths so far associated with the past weeks weather), but the worst is in the South and East. St. Louis could break the records set in 1993 floods. Locally, the Missouri river is cresting ~ 2 - 3 feet below worrisome levels. ~ 8 years ago, I worked for nearly a week making sand bags.

Annette have you thought about placing a tarp over your bed, maybe tuck it under your soil edge to hold it down then a brick or paver to hold it down. Assuming there's nothing in the bed that didn't mind getting having it's foliage lay down for a little while.
More rain tomorrow, I wish it would behave so I can plant the last of the bulbs. Angry

Kabby, good to hear all well there.

Annette, I was just going to suggest some sort of permanent edger for that bed that will divert water, but sounds like you're already thinking of the same. Water is always likely to travel that path, and it will probably just keep happening otherwise. At least the tulip and hyacinth bulbs are still there- thank goodness for that.

I went outside to clean up the front garden, and I saw some areas of the pine straw bulging, so I investigated, only to find some of the Hyacinth Fondant are blooming. Guess they think spring is here🙄

Annette, are those hyacinths newly planted or were they already there? I have a Jan Bos hyacinth coloring up like yours- it was planted in 2014. The hyacinths I planted this fall are just starting to surface.

Neal, the H. Fondant were planted this fall. I guess all the rain and warm weather fooled them into thinking it's spring.

I spent the afternoon redoing the front street bed. The bulbs and pansies got replanted. I also took the opportunity to plant 2 plants of Itoh peony Scarlet Heaven and some lily bulbs that had been in pots at the back of this bed. It was then mulched with mini pine bark mulch.

I found the edging at Lowe's, and went a step further by adding metal stakes to secure it around the bed. I then covered it in pine straw. Now we'll see if this will prevent this bed from further damage.

💥🎉Happy New Year🎉💥

I hope everyone is having and amazing 1st day of 2016! I'm happy to report I planted the last of my bulbs in the garden today. 103 Crocus Ruby Giant were added to my left front bed that contains N. Tahiti, and Tulips Sancerre and La Courtine.

I also replanted 20 N. Kedron, that I rescued from under one of the Leyland cypresses, where they were in too much shade and no longer blooming.

I'm thrilled that I finally have all of my bulbs planted, our cold weather is back, now it's time to sit back and dream of spring.
