I agree

I don't know why, since I rarely visit DG (usually only when someone mentions some sort of controversy going on ), but I find the present scene there quite depressing (and not just because of the new and "improved" format); maybe because I keep comparing the way the members' concerns and questions are being addressed to the way things are handled here... Shrug!

I was also thrown out of DG (for questioning the admin) and am still quite annoyed that they removed all of my posts, yet kept all of my photos. I'm somewhat surprised that they haven't somehow taken the watermark off my photos...give 'em time and that will likely happen as well.

I have been here at ATP for quite a long time, but still haven't become familiar with how everything works. I say very little at DG, for many years. I suppose I must do something else for a journal. I expect by the time they pull a few more tricks over there, our journals will be useless. Anyway, I am here if anyone is looking for me, hah ha. I was keeping tabs on a few friends over there, but have no idea where they will all go now.

You could even copy your entries from over there & paste them in your blog over here.

Welcome! to all the new members here! You're going to LOVE it!!

I was a former DG member, way back when, and loved it there. It just wasn't the same after Dave and Trish left though. People started getting nasty, and trolls came out of the woodwork. @mcash70 was nice enough to send me a message there, telling me about this awesome site, but I was still trying to cope with DG, and had so much going on otherwise, that I didn't cut the cord for a while. I also didn't want to lose contact with friends I had made there. I did join here, but didn't post or read much. When my membership there came up for renewal, I bailed quickly, and have never been happier! Thankfully, almost all of the friends I had made there have moved over here, and the trolls stayed behind, where their horrible attitudes seem to be welcome. Hilarious! I LOVE this site, and can't imagine life without it!

I am relieved to know that I'm not alone in trolling observations. Thought it was just me being overly-sensitive.

Cindy, I think everyone observed that, and it never got better. It really seemed like it was encouraged, since nothing was ever done about it. Luckily, nastiness isn't tolerated here. Everyone here is so nice and helpful!

I'm glad someone else observed the trolling, I kept wondering if I was being over sensitive too. I was really taken aback by so many rude or negative responses on some threads I checked out. That's not something I see here much, and didn't remember that happening on DG very often back in the day.

I've really like having the option here at ATP to give a thumbs up to a post. Often I'm reading a post from early on in a long thread, and it seems like posting just to say "hey, I like what you had to say there" isn't appropriate, but its great to let the poster know without making the thread unnecessarily longer. A DG member had suggested adding a thumbs up feature there, and I couldn't believe how many negative responses there were! Why should a simple way to give kudos to someone be an issue?

I've got thick skin, so if I found the comments over there to be rude, they must have been bad! Hilarious!

I love every feature here, and like you said, Neal, the thumbs up are a great way to show people that you liked what they had to say, especially early on in a very long thread. It's also nice that we can quote individual posts, and reply to those post. I find that really helpful when I stumble across something I'd love to reply to, early on in a long thread.

I also love that Dave listens to the input that people give regarding features here, and he adds new features that are useful to so many of us. I also appreciate the fact that he'll ask first, regarding some things, just to see if there is any interest in whatever it is. It makes it so that we are all included on certain decisions for the site. That isn't something that I've found anywhere else, and it is truly appreciated!

I am most definitely in the minority here, but I do not like the thumb thing. It is like you don't have time for a personal reply
However I do not a fan whatsoever of the "like" on FB for the same reason.

Funny, Anna. I'm the opposite - when I see a 'new' reply to an interesting thread, only to find a bunch of dancing faces or an 'atta boy' response , I am mildly disappointed that there is no substantive reply. So, I'm all for the thumbs.

I'm another person fleeing from DG. I see some old friends here already. Someday soon DG will be MT - for Melody and Terry, the administrators, who will be the only people left. Nothing but complaints about the changes and all they do is dig their heels in.

As long as no one calls me a "loser," "too sick to be here," "horrible" or demands that I remove a post because she is sure it will offend someone else - all things which have happened to me at DG - I think we'll get along fine.

I'm dealing with what may be a kidney infection right now. I'm in pain and have been for several days.

Very glad to be here. I've been at DG for nine years and I really hope other friends from there will come over here

On the upside of my life at the moment I have been picking and enjoying the first of the year's lemons and grapefruit. Lots of seedlings are coming up. I'm hoping that I will feel enough better tomorrow to plants some more seeds and do soome other garden work.

Dinner for my four dogs includes liver and they want it NOW.

Back later. katie
