Thanks ya'll. I promise these seeds are coming to a great home. My pay it forward is that I always try to give back somewhere down the line to someone in need. I was just worried because everyone has something beautiful to offer for me to grow but I couldn't offer as much as others. I feel much better about it now. Smiling

Lol. Jimard, you are a peach! By the way, that salvia is gorgeous! I have never seen one like that and had to have it. I'm trying to decide where I want to grow it. Should I grow it with my red or pink flowers? Should I grow it in my sun beds or the shade bed? Decisions, decisions. Lol.

I'm battling insomnia tonight. It's nearly 2AM and I'm wide awake. Sticking tongue out guess that gives me an excuse to peruse the seeds, I suppose!

(BTW, does anyone remember Rick making a post about not being available tonight? @RickCorey , everything okay? Hope so! Just checking in. Smiling )

@bxncbx , do you happen to have any seeds that are a cross of 'Confidante' and 'Francis of Assisi'? I think that would be my top favorite seed cross if you have it. If not, do you happen to have 'Little Business' crossed with either 'Confidante' or 'Francis of Assisi'? I think my third favorite cross would be Lakes Midnight Beacon crossed with any of the aforementioned daylilies ('Confidante', 'Francis of Assisi', or 'Little Business'). I'm trying to get reds or red-purples and I actually really like the white border on confidante...it reminds me a little bit of 'Larry's Obsession' (which I had in my hands and regrettably passed up purchasing at the last local daylily show). DND, unfortunately FOA appears to be sterile for me. I tried crossing it with EVERYTHING this year and it wouldn't set any pods. I also couldn't get it's pollen to set pods on anything else.

LB is a dip and FOA & Confidante are tets so they aren't going to cross. I can check what I did cross LB with but I think it is limited because it is planted away from my other daylilies so I don't have time to cross it except on weekends.

I also have to check what I crossed LMB with. I'll let you know when I get home.

That's a bummer about FOA. Thumbs down Sorry to hear that. Forgive me for the ignorant comment about crossing LB with the other ones...I even noticed it was a dip and the others were tets when I was looking them up on ATP, but clearly forgot by the time I was writing out my response. Whistling Anyhoo...I'd be curious to know if you have any crosses with 'Little Business' or with 'Confidante' that should yield offspring with bolder colors. (Preferably no pastels.)

KarenHolt said:Rick - In your wishlist you said petunias. Do you need a certain color or named variety? If not, I have some beautiful deep red ones that were purchased through a high end nursery here. I have no clue what type they are. They were no larger than 18" tall. I haven't listed them because they have no name. But if you want them, I'll put them up for you or anyone else that is interested. If not, they are special enough I won't put them up. I like this group and am willing to part with them for ya'll.

Karen, they sound very special, but my desire is much more general - I'll try any petunias and I lean toward deep blue and purple.. You should hold on to your deep red mystery petunias!

But thanks very much. Did you let some plants go to seed and then collect the pods?

If so, I want it even if just to stare at its beauty! What a coincidence that it should show up in the ATP pictures at this time.

I haven't grown them out - my summers are very cool - and I finally decided to let the seeds go to a good home that CAN grow them.

But the variegated foliage is how it has been described. Pretty plant!

Jimard brought up something that I'm on the fence about. I don't have a lot to offer and my wants far outpace what I can contribute. I do have the yard to plant what I want so it is not a matter of being greedy for me but I wouldn't want to upset anyone by taking to much either. Let's face it, there will be more swaps and in the fall I will be able to pay it forward. How does everyone feel about this?

That's what seed swaps are FOR! Request as many of my seeds as catch your eye, I'm sure I'll be requesting some back in future swaps.

And so many people have been very generous to me in so many swaps, that I'm still paying them back/forward in any swap where I manage to give away more than I request.

What goes around, comes around.

I recall a swap where someone asked for a few more of some rare seed that was "OUT", and the offer-er went out and found a few more seeds to share. A year or two later, the offer-er's plants up and died with no seeds saved in her stash.

"Say, did those seeds I sent you a few years ago germinate?"

"Yes, and I saved more seed from them. I'll send some right back to you!"

>> I do have the yard to plant

Go for it!

Karen and Jim (and anyone else new to group swaps), every seed you request is a compliment. As long as we only offer seeds that we WANT to share, it's a pleasure to see them wanted.

I have no doubt you'll be offering more seeds in future years, but group swaps don't need to be one-for-one swaps. I think of swaps as being like plants themselves: this year, plant a few seeds or trade a few seeds. Next year, they have multiplied ten-thousand-fold! Might as well be generous with each other; the plants are plenty generous to us.

Whoops! It started already? Maybe I celebrated the Holiday season a little too enthusiastically ...

I'll go scoop up a few things right now ...

BTW, I got another dozen or 15 varieties listed over the holiday. I got some unusual lettuces in small pkts - that's why the "Flashy" varieties are in such small trade pkts, and only one of each variety.

LoL, well as long as you were enjoying yourself, that's what matters! There's still TONS of seeds available, of course, so git on in and git yer seeds!

Yes. The plants went to seed and then I collected a few pods before they popped. There were not many to be had as the bulk had already popped. I know I have some deep purple but there is some deep red ones mixed in with them. If you want to try, I'll put some up.
