Toni, I hope you take pics and post them. i have several large aquariums sitting around empty and lots of insulated basement space, so maybe that's how I need to use those. I would love to grow roses from cuttings.

Cindi - It's not hard. Just have to keep the temperature from getting too hot otherwise it'll fungus. That's what ended up happening to my seeds. But I'll definitely take pix.

Just please remember that the roots that form in water are highly fragile and they break off easily if you later try to transplant them in soil. Handle them with extreme care.

Toni, do you stratify your seeds in the fridge for any length of time? I used to refrigerate them for at least two months when I was doing hybridizing. And usually they were already germinating in the damp paper towel when I pulled them out.

Betty - I kept my seeds in the garage, so they get naturally cold. Especiallly when the sodas explode from the cold.

Boy I guess! I used to moisten the paper towel I wrapped the seeds in with an antifungal product, and that really worked well -- can't remember what the product was, though, of course...

In case anyone wants to check, on the main Rose Forum page, if you click on the Rose Database link at the top, it now shows up here on ATP!
Zuzu and I have been working with Dave to get all the details the way we wanted them and he just finished it this afternoon. We are the first Cubits based database to be completed! We sure hope everyone will continue to use it and especially submit your images. We have lots of gorgeous bloom shots already but now the database is set up to also include photos of things like entire plant, leaves, seeds, branches etc.

Unfortunately, the search engine isn't sensitive enough yet to find alternative names, so if you're looking for Liv Tyler, for instance, and you don't know that the official name is Comtesse de Provence, the search engine won't find it for you.

Check HMF for the exhibition name if you can't find the rose, or Sue and I can find it for you if you ask us.

Yep, Dave said the search engine will be worked on once he finishes importing all the databases and finalizing the details, he's getting ready to make an official launch of it, adding a Database tab to the top.
He's been working so hard, he said his brain is on overload, or something like that!

It's possible that the link at the top won't work for everyone yet. Sue, you and I see it because we've been working on the database with Dave, but it might be blocked for other people until the official launch.

No, the main rose page, click on Roses Forum at the top left, it takes you back to the main page. The Database link is at the top of the forums, dead center.

As for me it's been there, but I thought it was just a link to the Cubits forum. Huh. Nice. Smiling Much faster.
