Sandi... here's a view from the top... the sectional is tied behind the fence for the winter ... as the cool room occupies not wall street... but the entire back of the garden... lots still blooming in the second picture

I love the "solar passie." Must try to find one of those in the spring. We spent yesterday shoving plants into the temporary greenhouse. An impending freeze was pushing us along. After getting the plastic up and setting the heaters....the weather guy changed his prediction to maybe 33 or 34 last night. Anyway, all are covered and I'm still moving furniture off the patio. We have our garden club Xmas dinner Thursday. I plan to take some cuttings of brugs that I know anyone can successfully grow (like Charles Grimaldi). I've cut back most all my hibiscus to cram them in. I have to stop buying plants. Too many to take care of, especially in a drought.
Juli was really disappointed in your view Gordon. I think we both feel fortunate to have been able to see it unobstructed before the steel beams went up. Just wouldn't have been the same....

You should patent your cool house construction!

I agree that cool house is amazing, and that is quite a picture you took, still hard to believe you grow beautiful plants on your roof. Hurray!

Good morning Gordon. it's in the 20s this morning. I managed to get most of my plants into my two hoop houses. Last year, I had four hoops. I plan to re-do some beds over winter. Gave away some large plants that I didn't want to move/protect anymore. I had to leave out all the brugs that were in the ground. They were disappointing this past summer. Just bug magnets. I took a few cuttings and wished them well!

The cool house needs some faux windows!

Gordon, isn't it wonderful to have flowers this time of year when we know that it "shouldn't be" in our parts of the country. LOL

Gordon, It's good to see plants flowering so late in the season. Snow and ice do a great job of insulating plants. As Sandi has already pointed out, our area got down to a dry mid twenties. All frost sensitive plants have given up for the year around here.

Gordon nice to see some of your brugs still in bloom.. My computer crashed in an electrical storm and I was just now able to replace it so I've been MIA for a while..The pollination video was beautiful.. The bi-colored bloom was spectacular even if it changed to a solid color with maturity..Sorry I missed the cuttings give away.. That leaves hope for next year I guess Hilarious! I hope you all have a very Merry Christmas...I have my gifts all wrapped and under the tree so now just waiting for the big day.. Be safe and be Merry...

Yes Doris... it wasn't too bad though... I try to make the majority of the trip in the dark...Left at 8 PM going through the tunnel into NJ... and pulled into here@ 4 PM into north Alabama... near TN... about 20 miles from Huntsville.. Lovely night .. and day... but there was rain from Knoxville ... I even managed a few hours sleep about 5 am.. to miss the beginning of the morning rush... even pretty warm..
so .. this is a photo of a print made from an aerial photo a few decades ago...it sits on an old cow pasture... go the grass is great in the spring..the 40 ft long silver building with it's roof just visable behind the house. is the kennel... and a few room for the catery... she manages a few dozen coccers and the Bengals which she still manages the care and breeding of these animals.. advertises and books appointments.. and sends pictures out online .. @ 90 years old... God bless...anyway... I built the house some 40 years ago for her.. you can see the mandatory full greenhouse... whose hot air can be made to circulate through the s;ab of the house... and the 6 4' x 6 1/2 ft skylights across the ridge line... the light from this falls on an interior brick wall that runds across the far north wall... inside.. to store the heat in the house.. and the two silver solar hot water units on the left sige of the house roof.. so we're here.. she's got a punch list of repairs a mile long for me.. trut to form mother has a bucket of long cuttings rooting in the greenhouse...
Patrticia... as I was on the way to the post office with these I was thinking I didn't have yours .. as the address was way before when I mentioned it here.. and was fuirther down in the mail.. I've got piles in the cool room.. growing like mad... I can send you some on my return.. I'm not getting over to Cleveland/Greenville this trip.. or I could deliver you some of the ones here... but I can mail them out on my return..

Ohhhh..........Bengal kitties.............I LOVE Bengal kitties. I think when they're still very small the kittens look like little gophers when they are lined up nursing the mom. LOL I'd love to have one, but sure can't afford one.

OH..Anna.. you should be closer... she always has an old queen.. or stud... or sometimes just an extra one about... I'd asked her to save me a young female snow bengal when she had one for me... this is one I'm looking to bring back with me... what she calls her best looking snow ever... I started her off breeding with a son from my Bengal Kits...
[ she's now 16 ] I got her from Jean Mill in LA.. Jean started the breed and her lines were great... so my Baxter was her first good bengal she started to breed from... bet that snow I'm taking was many 100's of bengals later ..
