Well, finally done for today. This morning I started with the finishing of the cleanup of the front yard flower beds. I was happy to get that done as it was my goal for today. But afterwards my neighbor came and asked me to get all the stray tomato plants growing over her fence and laying on top of her hedges off and out. Normally I just do that at summers end when I pull out the plants. But they had grown over her side so if she wanted them gone I couldn't exactly say no. So I spent the rest of the afternoon yanking that entire row of tomato plants back over to my side. Most of the tops of the plants I could move over but some broke and some had to be cut. And of course I have to stand in among the tomato vines and get myself all dirty.

Did as much as I could and then took Lily for a one mile walk as I knew she wanted to go.

Done for today and plenty tired.

You should be tired Rita. That's a lot of work.

I have lots of fall yard work to do. I've barely started. We're supposed to get a couple of rainy days followed by a couple of nice, cooler days on Sunday and Monday. I hope to get some yard work done then.

Kelli,

Has your dentist sent you to a good periodontist? I'm afraid what I'm learning as my teeth age (and all my life I had "good" teeth according to dentists) is that those amalgam fillings I had in the 1950s to fill the deep pits before they got decayed will crumble in time and need replacing with larger fillings which weakens the tooth leading to fractures which leads to root canals and crowns and you think you're done, but then those teeth with root canals sometimes develop fractured roots leading to gum issues. I'm awaiting extraction of the first tooth I crowned (in 1983) which later needed a root canal and which has been bothering me off and on for awhile. X-rays at the periodontist showed bone loss under that tooth only - so far the rest of my mouth is ok - but once it gets to that point the only real option is extraction and, depending on its location, an implant = megabucks. We have dental insurance but a large part of it won't be covered and it will take quite a long time from extraction to final implant - maybe 6 months. Anyway, I travel with antibiotics, just in case, and will have it extracted in late October. I hope you have a better experience.

Here's a picture from the ceremony the other day. Or rather the reception after it. No personal cameras allowed during the ceremony but there was a whole row of official photographers covering the event and I trust that we will eventually get our pictures with the Governor General.

We came home, finished packing and were on the road by 4:15 and with a quick meal stop, in Cicero, north of Syracuse, NY by 8:15 which included 15 minutes of trying to find the hotel which route was not well marked. We had seen it from I81, but finding the local road that actually accessed it was challenging in dark.

We hit the road at 8 am yesterday and arrived in Akron about 2:30. Managed to skirt rain clouds and were able to keep the rear window zipped open for flow-through ventilation.

Welcome party here was at the Firestone Country Club with a golf course that is on professional circuits. They had 3 buffet lines and we eventually figured out that all 3 were different. Smiling

Today, it's overcast and might rain. Tomorrow, car show day, it WILL rain, of course. Probably no open cars.

I had an extraction of an old root canal that had cracked and the crown fell off a couple years ago. The root canal work had actually been done through the crown, which had been done some time before the root canal. They drilled through the crown and than plugged up the hole with something. It was a root canal done around 1990.

I went to the root canal doctor. He probed around my teeth with an icy cold cotton swab and found that the root canal tooth was dead like it should be. However, I have severe recession of the gums of two teeth by it that has exposed some of the root, where there is no enamel. That is what is so cold-sensitive. That is probably also why it never really hurt, just felt strange. There is some kind of filling they can put over that that my regular dentist should be able to do. I called them yesterday but they must have gone home early because no one called back. They are not in on Friday so I won't be able to make an appointment until Monday. However, it's not a big rush now. It isn't a cavity or something wrong with the root canal.

Kelli, that's great that you don't need to have that tooth pulled.

Yes, Margaret, it is great.

We went for a walk today. It was cloudy the whole time, which was fine. We've been having a lot of cloudy mornings, which I odd for September. September is usually a bake oven.

You look great, Ann. I'm sorry I missed your posting the first time I went through. Sometimes the screen kind of jumps and I will miss a posting if I'm not paying attention.

Thank you Rosie, but I'm particularly partial to that shade of green. Goes back to when I was a red-head, I think. I don't much like maroon.

Yes, the medal is quite impressive and as an official honour, comes with a long list of how and when you can wear it. But there is also a miniature that can be worn on a lapel or otherwise and at times when real medals are no appropriate.

It was go to the Supermarket day. So then of course you have to lug everything in and put it away. By that time it was time to water the garden. Afterwards had to go take Lily on our exercise walk. There goes the day.

Took a 50 minutes walk this morning. Then later, walked out to a restaurant and over to the adjacent mall which I covered from one end to the other. Tried on a few items in Macy's but didn't buy anything and then hiked back to the hotel. We drove out to Hudson, OH for an event this evening and walked all over there as well before having dinner. And we've been taking the stairs to our 3rd floor room most of the time - maybe 5 times a day. As well as to the hospitality suite which is one floor lower.

Tomorrow is the car show. It's supposed to rain. But we'll see.

I finally got a link to official pictures from the other day and have posted them at https://www.facebook.com/media... That's a link that should work even if you aren't on FB.

I went to the gym and did my normal exercises but only for about 40 minutes. After that I went to an hour long yoga class. I'd never done yoga before and can't possibly do some of the stuff, and never will, but it was OK. My gym is offering this course as a once-a-week class taught by an outside instructor, which costs an extra $30/ month. She's offering two free classes this month for anyone who just wants to try, so I went. I'm not sure I'll actually sign up for it (membership is already expensive) but I'm thinking about it.
