Here's another one, not 100% sure of the name...but it's another luscious pink double I've had for over 10 years... I even moved it once. So happy that I have finally slowly but surely moved into peony season.

This cool and cloudy weather has been a boon for my later tree peonies blooms. Most of the blooms lasted 5 days and the color is so much nicer. Here is High Noon TP. This is the best coloration that I have ever seen of High Noon. In previous years, the colors were rather washed out.

Totally love those NOID pink double flowers, Tracey. They remind me of Hana Kisoi - the plant I do not have but will buy some day :)

While I am waiting for the weather to warm up, thought I would share a couple of tree peonies I pass by on my long walk into work from a remote parking lot. I smile everytime they bloom. It was a little windy on my way in today. Hopefully the pics turned out ok. The only label they have on them is suffruticosa.

Thanks Karen. The tree peonies this year are not only later by about ten days, but out of usual sequence. I'm ready for bloom season to start.
Here is the first bloom on 'Lavender Grace'

And sweet'Leda' not quite willing to give in and open up yet. Who can blame her? We can't trust this crazy weather!

I love those dark magenta/ purple flares. I'm a sucker for all of them. They accent the pinks and even the whites, making everything so much more striking, in my opinion of course.

Thanks for being excited about peonies you guys. And for your kind comments.

Let me tell you, Yan has my list growing as well. This is the place to avoid if you don't want a "want list". I feel like tree peonies are still the under appreciated peony. Maybe that will change in time, both of my daughters love them, so maybe there is hope for the future. Lovey dubby

I think the forums and facebook groups are making them much more appreciated--it'd be interesting to ask some of the major growers if they're selling significantly more tree peonies over the last few years since they've been "discovered" by the casual gardener via exposure online. I know I never bought tree peonies before because I never saw them available locally, never even knew they existed 9 years ago. Bought my first one from MB, Phoenix White 8 falls ago, still wasn't that impressed. Then I saw some of the pics on the GW Peony Forum--WOW!!! Started collecting right away but that was only 4 years ago of so, most of mine will start blooming this year....Different for people who live around major growers, probably....
