Been out of the loop here at DD in freezing PA!

So...one of you may be naked because hubby left the clothes home
The chest rattling cough is better
The cows are getting settled albeit at the expense of the sweet treats in the oven

Multiple Knees are at risk but info is on the way to mediate the disaster.

I am not grumpy....DD in surgery as I type this and kids on the school bus with no morning mishaps ( tears, snot and refusals ) and I am about to put the house to rights after sis's visit with hubby and THREE DOGS... two that shed great big tumbleweeds ...
one little male who thinks every sofa and table leg is a little female ..
one is blind and insulin dependent..
and one is half blind with a frickin bleeding disorder...
Two have eating disorders
Brother in law is semi demented and sis can't walk...I have watched her knee cause her leg to go from nice and straight to a 45 degree angle. ..she won't do ANYTHING about it but complain
...the weekend was a comedy of errors and kept DD too busy to worry about the surgery. It was CHAOS. << Spellcheck says that is OK...BUT IT DOESN'T
LOOK so hot.

The hubby's 'don't overdo.." conversation...

Well you can " hruumph " at me ..(please don't ) BUT my thinking is " if you want help...ASK for it". Don't leave it up to hubby to figure it out and offer..

If you don't ask outright, and when he does not respond as he should ..don't feel hurt or mad or neglected. TELL him what you want or need for him to do and then if there is no response to your request.. hit him over the head wth a banana! 😊

It may be that he knows only you can do it exactly as you want it to be done ( meaning the right way! ) Rolling on the floor laughing

Not surprising that you get snappy not eating for all that time!!

I can often not eat for almost all day without any big deal of it. But then there are other days when I am constantly eating as I feel like I just need to eat and eat and eat. Oh well, all good now.

Oh wanted to add, no medical issues, just trying to loose 5 pounds.

Rita, we know you can do it as you've done it before. If there's anyone I have faith in to lose 5 lbs., it's you!

Rosie, hang in there, it'll all be over soon, you'll be back home and lamenting the inability to hug those grands. Isn't that always the way? Now why don't people keep the instruction manuals for appliances? I do. In fact, I have an LG & besides the instruction manual, it came with a laminated 8.5 x 11 quick start instruction card *with* a suction cup attached. How about that? It hangs next to the washer.

Since I have been really working out in the garden digging and chopping I really have been getting the exercise. Plus if course long exercise walks with my dog. My waist is slimmer so I know that I have gained muscle. So the extra 5 pounds is not as bad as it seems. But I want the scale to go back down to read 120 again so that is what I am working on.

See the Support for a Healthy Lifestyle thread if you want to know more but I am trying to do the weight loss the healthy way. Slow going this way.

Rosie no matter how you put it you always seem to put a smile on my face! Hilarious! Hilarious! As for asking for help, I do as I figured it out long ago he doesn't naturally think of things and subtle hints go over his head, so I'm to the point of the hitting over head with banana or grumbling here Whistling Whistling Anyway - I got the job done and all bulbs and peonies are in the ground at my house and I told my DD that THEY are doing the work and I will do the instruction at her house next weekend nodding nodding nodding

Rita I'm like you - I like to keep the weight within a certain range so it doesn't get out of hand, however, sometimes I find myself working my way back from further over than I intended!!! I'm one of those that likes to eat healthy and HATE to diet, just eat less of my normal foods. The time I have problems is when I go to the kids or out to eat and I overdo on my trigger foods - foods I keep OUT of the house on purpose!!! Keep up the walking! I'm shooting for 10 lbs so hopefully it will come off soon. It's when the yard work stops and I am sitting for longer hours at work that the train wreck begins Whistling Whistling Whistling

That is the thing, its not much but if you ignore it then it is just a steady progression of weight gain.

Four years ago I went on a serious weight loss program and lost 30 pounds. I went from 150 to 120. Many of the regulars here most certainly remember. Took me 6 months!!

I am only 5'2 so 150 really was too much. But most importantly I felt horrible at that weight!! My blood pressure was up, cholesterol and blood sugar climbing. For my good health I had to change things.

So I not only lost weight I ate far less meat and far more fresh veggies.

And this was calorie counting and exercise. But I kept it off without any problems until I had far too many donuts this past February and far too many times stopping the ice cream truck this summer.

And here I am eating my fool head off trying to gain. 5'2" & down to 95 lbs. Not good, not good. The other day I pulled my jeans (easily) right off without unzipping or unsnapping. Thumbs down

If you wouldn't have given him tomatoes & veggies he might not have stopped the ice cream truck Rolling on the floor laughing Rolling on the floor laughing Rolling on the floor laughing My problem is sweet and salty. I have to keep chips and bakery out of the house! When I go to the kids I seem to inhale sweet and salty. When the grandkids come over they want to know if I have any snacks I give them fresh fruit, etc. They then inform me they meant sweets and chips! So I give them popcorn Whistling Whistling

Tony and I have both gone through the learning to ask for help thing. I also had to teach him to say thank you for presents. Maybe its' a Mexican thing but I had to ask - sometimes repeatedly - if he and his family enjoyed the Christmas presents. I didn't want to stop giving them but I was hurt about not being thanked. I didn't say I was hurt, I just asked if they liked them. He did catch on and now does not need to be prompted. We have both learned to ask each other for help. It was harder for him in some ways as he works for me and, being a Mexican man, hesitates to admit that help would be useful. Since I like to help and am happy to do so - and will admit when I'm not able to - it works for both of us. My back is stronger so it sometimes leads to a funny situation where I'm holding something up for him.

My neighbor Diana came by this morning and we had a long visit. She's the woman I went to Ca. with a few months ago. The couple that traveled with us went the rest of the way nuts, trashed their rental house and left town. No other hot gossip but we talked for a couple of hours, just enjoying ourselves - and the furbabies.

Our weather is beginning to cool down.

I'm still recovering from the fall so it was particularly nice to have a long visit with Diana.

I have another thought on the help issue. I was telling Diana that Tony and I have a way of handling things when something goes wrong: each of us says, "It was my fault." We then move on to handle the situation. Not recommended if you're dealing with a person who responds with, "Yes it was your fault and furthermore....." But if you have a person who will share responsibility you will soon learn to stay away from the "Furthermores." My thoughtful observation of the day.

Rosie, take a hot bath and relax.

hugs, katie
