I really like Annemieke! Think the fading is gorgeous but all of your peonies are, LG! Miss America is flawless!

Is 'Annemieke' fragrant? The color and form look really nice Lovey dubby The peony project database doesn't include it, but there are a ton of unregistered peonies.

Miss America is one of my all time favorites. It seems to have the same form as Mackinac Grand. And the color is outstanding.

Thank you all for your comments.

Karen I got 'Goldilocks' in 2014 from that local nursery that field grows peonies and then pots them up in the Fall for Spring sale. So it was planted in June 2014 in my garden. Last year it had one bloom, and this year it has 4.

Annemieke doesn't have much fragrance at all. It does hold its blooms up.

Miss America is just getting started. She is next to Cythera and they look great.

My macinack grand is new this year. It has one bud on it, but I don't know if it will open.

Miss America and Cytherea must be absolutely gorgeous together! Do you have a group shot of them, LG? Also, have you shared a pic of your Roseheart on Facebook? My friend and I visited Chotkowski Gardens and I talked to him about it. He has Bess B and the same Roseheart that I have and seemed very interested in yours. That was a wonderful visit, he walked the garden and talked to us for over an hour! I didn't take as many photos as I wanted to because we were discussing how different peonies performed in our gardens. He had several that I've wanted for years but haven't been able to find....

Hi Liz,
oh I was so hoping you had a lot of photos to share of his garden. Does he do mail order? Did he have the elusive 'Tinka Philips'?
I bought 'Bess Bockstoce' from Brooks Garden last Fall and planted her right next to my 'Roseheart' from Adelman's . Unfortunately, they both came up really early and BB got botrytis, and RH was deformed. I removed the one bud BB had as it was limp and black. Sigh. Hopefully next year.
I will try to get some garden shots of my peonies this weekend. 'Hot Chocolate' and 'Carol' and 'New Millenium' are starting to open. Hurray!

The first herbaceous peony to bloom in my garden is 'Claire de Lune' which I planted in fall, 2014, and which produced three blooms this spring.

Love all the pictures. Many I have never seen or even heard of. I should have some pictures soon - well, in a week or so. Way earlier than usual and not even fernies though I suspect Roselette has some tenuifolia in there some where.

When I first started planting my peonies in my garden, I planted them all over, not really much together. But as I got more and more they are getting closer and closer. Miss America is across the path from Coral Louise, and Mackinac Grand in next to Garden Treasure. I have more of a grouping effect out front though. I have a jagged row of sorts across the sidewalk bed starting with a very common bomb pink peony that has been around forever, Petite Renee, Coral Sunset, Bev, Sword Dance, Cararra, and an unknown from my MIL. Not all will bloom this year but several will. Then Border Charm, Green Lotus and Lemon Chiffon are in another bed sort of across the front about 6' apart. GL won't loom this year but the other two are prolific. Chocolate Soldier and another noid are in my 'arc' bed (30' x 2' arc) with iris, lilies, and then dahlias and annuals. Neither will bloom this year; no buds. But the other flowers cover me from spring (iris) through summer (dahlias and lilies). Plus the annuals. So I don't think I will be lacking blooms.

My 'Fragrans' opened today and I cut the first bloom to bring inside. We had a terrific wind and rain storm last evening, winds of 50 to 60 mph, and my old single pink took it in stride. One of the advantages of single peonies. Fragrans, as the name implies, has that old-fashioned peony fragrance in addition to being an attractive blossom. Should have many more pics in a couple of days.

My Peonies are pitiful compared to all of these. I just started planting these last year. We have several that were my Grandmother's. We don't know the names because she got them from her mom. It's amazing how long these plants live.

Those old no name peonies are among the very best to have in a garden. Don't worry about names. Someone once said a rose by any other name would still smell the same.

I agree. My Grandmother's Peonies smell so much better than the new ones. I can smell them from a distance. Some of these new ones have no scent at all. The fragrance is one of their major pluses for me.

The only reason most of us label our peonies is so we don't buy all of the same plant, Clint! It helps if you like to trade as well. Most of us have several NOIDs in our gardens as well, I know some of my favorites are amongst that group! Having generational plants like yours is much more meaningful than having a garden full of labeled plants, wish I had some of my grandmother's roses.

The ones tied to family meaning and memories are the best peonies of them all. You can smell them and it awakens your mind to another time and place. I love that.

Hi Clint,
There are two places you could make a road trip to visit to see peonies and buy them:
Iris City Gardens, which is in Fairview Tn, and easy to get to off I840. Potted peonies to buy and take home with you. No mail order.
Then Gold City Flower Farm in Franklin, KY., off of I65. They don't have as many potted peonies to take home with you. They have a website to purchase for Fall delivery.
I went to Iris City Saturday, and am going to Gold City this Saturday weather permitting.
To see the field grown peonies is awesome.
