Wow, I've just had a bird feast for the eyes with all y'alls photos!!! This is about the 1st I've had more than 2 minutes today to be on the site & what a wonderful collection of photos!!!! All the bird friends seem to have outstanding personalities today.

I was out watering earlier & 2 Great Crested Flycatchers had a massive fight only 15-20' from me. They were low to the ground. The loser almost ran into me as it was flying away. There was screeching & claws & aerial stunt maneuvers & everything folks!

Then our resident skunk was out in the west field getting it's dinner. I stood out there trying to get photos & the gnats were making me insane! Skunk is too used to us. I was trying to get it to look up & rear up. I had to resort to yelling, barking like a dog & it looked at me & just seemed to say, "oh, it's just you" & went right back to bug eating. Hilarious! Hilarious! Hilarious!

Beautiful photos, everyone. Lovey dubby Lovey dubby Few birds here (France) because so many feral cats around... just the big, brave seagull who wants the cat food. Blinking If you get another chance, Ann, I'd love to see a photo of a skunk (we don't have them in France or England).

I love mimosas, David - we have several here and they grow really fast. We have to get them cut back every couple of years. But when they flower, they're spectacular (and the blooms make great cut flowers). Thumbs up

Love the bunting David! I love mimosas too but don't have any & will not plant any as they take over FL -- very invasive here. The kind of mimosa you drink is a favorite as well - now those are allowed here. Whistling

@cliftoncat Mika, here is where I posted the skunk photo. Not too great I'm afraid. I only posted the one as the quality is not stellar and I was short on time.

Always helps if I put the link.

Managed to get a pic of a red headed woodpecker but either the resizing or the fact that he was quite far from me reduced the quality of the pic.

It's a task to get a picture of the woodpecker, they seem to move so fast so Thumbs up Hemlady for getting the pictures! So sweet to see the baby geese!

Speaking of babies, it's getting close! I'm starting to see the Phoebes little heads poking out. I only see two so far, they usually have three or four.

I'm sitting here being super chill since tomorrow is the big Orchid Field Trip over in Orlando. You know I'll be photographing birds and butterflies, too. It's also raining outside which means I don't have to drag the hoses around. Come to think of it, the sprinklers went off this morning, too. Hurray!

I was gazing out the window at my birdfeeder a while ago and the squirrel was sitting underneath it. I saw him hop into my Parsley Hawthorne and I knew he was going for it. He climbed up the pole, got on the birdfeeder, but seemed to have trouble holding on. He sort of slid down back into the Hawthorne. He tried again, and slipped down to the ground where he stayed. I asked Mom if she had sprayed the pole with Pam again, and she cheerfully told me this time she used Crisco! Rolling on the floor laughing I told her it was working! And what's good is that she did it a couple of days ago which means it didn't effect the Blue Jay I saw yesterday.

Blue Jay sat on top of the Shepard's Hook for a bit, then settled for the seeds on the ground. It was calling while it was on top of the hook. Made me wonder if he was ringing the dinner bell.

Right before the rain started, I saw an Ibis wandering through the backyard. Soon enough, it's friend came and joined it. I rarely see an Ibis alone. The one flew across the street to my neighbor's yard while the other just walked across. I was in my bare feet and the concrete is pretty hot so I can't blame the one who flew over the asphalt. That's a smart bird.

Nice photos Christine. Love the spike hair on the Cardinal.

Melanie Rolling on the floor laughing Rolling on the floor laughing Rolling on the floor laughing Rolling on the floor laughing Crisco on the pole. Your mom was getting down to real business. Hilarious! Hilarious! Hilarious! I used to use vaseline. We had a blast watching them slip slide on the greased pole. One thing, eventually from their trying, sand from their feet will get mixed into the grease & then they can get traction so we would have to wipe down the pole till it was completely clean & then start over with new grease.

Ann, I have educated Mom accordingly. Sometimes I think the neighbors must think I'm crazy, but then Mom runs out there screaming and waving her arms around to scare off the squirrels and then I think the neighbors must assume this is a lunatic asylum. Rolling on the floor laughing

Better remind Mom that the screaming and waving will also alarm the birdies. It's better to be stealthy and use lots of grease. I do my screaming and waving at night when the neighbors can't see me. I also bark and growl - but then I'm trying to scare off raccoons, not just squirrels.

Btw next time you're near a HD or Lowe's pick up a tube of SuperLube for Mom. It will last a LOT longer than cooking grease. She only needs to grease the bottom part of the pole below where the feeder hangs, so no worries for the birds up top.
