I'll make one for Halloween. We're having a driveway party before the kids come. Orange Chocolate sound about right for the occasion! Thumbs up Crossing Fingers!

I have a feeling that cakes made in such an ornate pan wouldn't be frosted. Just put in some sweet fillings and let the design show. It's beautiful.

I think I found a Winner! Doesn't this look good? All it would need is a light sprinkling of powdered sugar and show off those flowers!

Chocolate Orange Bundt Cake

Ingredients

1 cup HERSHEY'S Semi-Sweet Chocolate Chips or CHIPITS Milk Chocolate Chips (250 mL)
1 cup butter, softened (250 mL)
1 3/4 cup granulated sugar (425 mL)
4 eggs (4)
1 tsp vanilla (5 mL)
3 tbsp finely grated orange rind (45 mL)
3 cups all-purpose flour (750 mL)
2 tsp baking powder (10 mL)
1/2 tsp each baking soda and salt (2 mL)
1/2 cup orange juice (125 mL)
1/4 cup orange liqueur or orange juice (50 mL)
Icing sugar (optional)

Directions

1. Heat oven to 325°F (160°C). Melt chocolate chips in medium bowl in microwave, or in bowl over boiling water, until just beginning to lose their shape. Stir until smooth; set aside.
2. In large bowl, beat butter and sugar until fluffy. Beat in eggs, one at a time, until creamy. Beat in vanilla and orange rind.
3. In large bowl, mix together flour, baking powder, soda and salt. Beat flour mixture into butter mixture alternately with orange juice and liqueur; beat until smooth. Spread 2 cups (500 mL) of the batter in greased and floured 12 cup (3 L) Bundt pan.
4. Stir 2 cups (500 mL) of the batter into melted chocolate until well combined; spread over batter in pan. Spread remaining batter over chocolate batter.
5. Bake 1 hour and 15 minutes or until cake tester comes out clean. Let cool in pan, on rack, 15 minutes. Gently loosen cake from edge and centre of pan; invert onto rack. Cool completely before slicing. Dust top with icing sugar if desired.
Makes 16 slices.

That sure is pretty! I love an orange glaze just lightly drizzled on the top. It would accentuate the raised decorations on top, I would think.

Thanks @ChefDebbie (WB) Would you just add orange zest? Orange Juice? Orange Flavoring to the glaze?

Mix 2 cups confectioners sugar, zest of 2 oranges (just the rind don't get the white underneath) & 2 tablespoons of orange juice. Voila! Let me know how you like it.

Is that how you make your lemon? If it were substituted for the orange?

Would it work with grapefruit???

That was exactly what I was gonna say. Also, put the cake on a sheet tray so if anything does leak out, it will do so on the tray & won't mess up your oven. When I bake muffins, I only fill the cups up half way, maybe just a smidge more.

If you wanted a lemon glaze, do the same thing except with lemon zest of course. But I'd use the zest of 3 lemons... I like mine extra lemony tasting.

I don't see why it wouldn't. They're all citrus. Make sure to roll the grapefruit around on the counter to get it extra juicy. Then squeeze the grapefruit to get the juice & eliminate the pits. I wouldn't add alot of the grapefruit zest, but finely zest some & add a little then taste it. You can always add in but cannot take out if you add too much in. I'd say try it & experiment with it. Then you'll know what else it may need, like a small splash of brandy, or any extracts..... If you try it, please let me know how it came out. Smiling

I will.. I have always wondered about grapefruit icing ..when I lived in Fort Lauderdale, I ate pink grapefruit each day...so darn sweet.., I bet butter cookies with a sugar grapefruit icing would be good.
