Gita, I'd love a piece of ric-rac if you are trimming it. I planted the ones I received from the spring swap and they are doing well, I think Rolling my eyes.

Thanks, Aspen! It may not be the same exactly (if the parent is a hybrid), but it'll be the same species, which should mean a more compact shrub.

Gita, thank you!! There's just something really special about that curly cultivar. Your photo didn't post, but I can root you a Hawaiian spider from one of my plants if you want one... If yours has thrown spiders, the little ones should be distinctly variegated (creamy white down the center of the leaves, green margins), even though the mature ones are pretty much just green.

Gita, where did you post the photo? Did I miss it? I did do some google-research a few years back, and the general opinion seemed to be that you can tell Hawaiian spider by the difference in coloration between the babies and the mature rosettes. Also, when I see it side by side with another variety, the leaves of the Hawaiian Spider Plant are broader and have more substance -- it's just a brawnier plant.

I stuck a few "spiders." I'll see how they are doing closer to the swap and put them on my list.

I just took a couple pictures of it. may not have posted it yet.
I agree- the leaves are wider and stronger-looking.
Weather it is a "Hawaiian" or not--I don't know.

Did you Google "Hawaiian Spider plant" and see the variety of photos there?

Here is the one I have that JB thought may be the Hawaiian.
To me--it is just an all-green Spider...

That looks like my Hawaiian Spider. When it throws variegated little spiders (as strongly green & white as 'Bonnie'), you'll know for sure. Yes, there are lots of images, and some don't look like this at all... but there did seem to be a general consensus on ID in some gardening forums and articles that I found (and of course didn't bookmark, just remembered the information).

I may have a couple small ones of these to pass on.
I had one of the big ones sitting on the edge of my raised bed and
some of the runners were touching the soil and had rooted.
I cut it off and potted up 3- 3" pots of them.
Do you want one? I'll tag the fullest one for you. LMK. G.

Do they smell as sweet as they look? Love the silver "chalice" type vases... not sure what to call them, but they are simple & elegant.

In cutting back some mint, I potted up 3 or 4 mature clumps of Kentucky Colonel Spearmint... and I can pull up a few more rooted runners just before the swap... so, @RickM, you may not need to try to start a bunch of this one. I can likewise bring plenty of rooted runners of my Chocolate Peppermint. That should leave you free to concentrate on the others...

@RickM etal

Wondering whether we might have a hiatus on daily additional dibs and then in Sept resume with one or two per day, kind of a 'last call'.???
Of course we could continue to list plants and call dibs and discuss throughout.
You said something about 75 being the limit? Aren't we almost there? Thanks for splaining...

Some clarification for everyone.

What you get each day are tickets that can be used to call dibs on an item. The number of tickets will continue to grow every day. In fact, if you 'sell' more than you 'buy', you actually start to earn back tickets that you've already spent. You are not obligated to use all of your tickets.

Currently, there are 161 items being offered in the swap, so in theory, a single participant still doesn't have enough tickets to call dibs on 'one of everything'.

The 'limit of 75' was incorrectly stated. It's not a limit on how many tickets a person can accumulate, but the number of items that a person can call dibs on or 'buy'. And in case someone wants to freak out about 'why so few', no one has called dibs on 30 items yet. That, and it's a very easy setting to change. I check the counts daily to see where things are.

Swap Status:
161 unique items offered.
92 wishlist items.
203 dibs claimed.
1,501 tickets still out.

As far as taking a hiatus goes, the system wasn't designed to go into a holding pattern. Frankly, I'm not sure what would happen if we were to try, and it's not worth the risk.

Suffice to say, no matter how tickets are doled out, someone will end up with waaaaaay more than they'll ever use.

Yep -- don't worry about tickets and dibs. Just use the tool for easy record keeping.

That Lizards' Tail grows widely in Tuckahoe on the water's edge or emergent from the river. Has nice scent, when there's acres of it anyway. I was so appy to ID it and find it native, when I saw so much of it
Plant it and they will come.
