Hi yall! Smiling

I finished last 2 egg veggie muffins with 2slices B&B.

Then bites of cantaloupe.

Trying not to think of leftover donut in fridge.

Sally, take care!

I better get busy,
And not think of fridge finds!

Those instant spuds are pretty good if you use milk and add butter. Water just doesn't cut it, at least in my book. Whistling

I use those instant potato pouches myself. Not too bad and even better when one pours gravy over them.

I rarely use milk because I am intolerant to the milk protein 'casein'.

Have you ever tried goats milk? It is supposed to be tolerated well by oeoplee who can't take cows milk. Something about the about the short chain fatty acids instead of the big ones in cow milk.

Margaret, do you use something else 'creamy' in your mash?

Years ago, I bought milk once at Kmart. Regular milk but Ewwww. Never again. Smelled like old grease.
Plant it and they will come.

So my box of food from Modify Health just arrived now. Late. Two hours after the UPS Delivery Notice Window said it would be here. This is my replacement box for the box went missing last week. So far UPS os not exactly doing a bang up job on the food deliveries.

Nicely packaged with many cold packs that are still frozen. The meals are in mico wave ready disposable trays. With vaccume sealed plastic on top so the food does not move around during transit. But they could have fit a lot more food in each tray without overfilling. So not large portions. Not large at all.

I got 6 meals and I put some of them in the freezer.

So these are my first impressions. Now will have to try the food.

I know its healthy and good nutrition. But I hate the taste of any milk so I ddon't drink it. I do add some to my nutritional shake that I make when I reemember. I can't taste it in there.

I give a small bowl to my dog each morning. She seems to love goats milk as she drinks it right up.

Sally, I save the potato cooking liquid and use some of it along with butter. Sometimes I use a little sour cream, I can tolerate a small amount. I do not like super smooth potatoes, I like texture in all my mashes.

My mom used the cooking water and powdered milk. And butter or margarine.
Sometimes I add one of the 'garlic dipping sauce' cups from pizza if there's one on hand. They look buttery but I don't know they add much more than salt and oil.
Plant it and they will come.

I can't even look at powdered milk, because in 1963 or so, my father fell for a sales gimmick (he fell for all of them!) Sign up for huge pack or powdered milk every month for a year and get a free mixer. It was a very good mixer, lasted for practically ever, but then he also bought great big boxes of corn flakes, which we had to eat with the powdered milk, which blighted my adolescence!
You can cook creatively with powdered milk, but it's too late for me.
However, soy milk is a pretty decent substitute, especially in mashed potatoes, as it's a little thicker than 1% dairy and has more protein.

Today, I had some lovely asparagus, so I made the OG's favourite meal: crepes filled with cheese and asparagus. Crepes work quite well with soy or oat milk, though you may need a little more oil in the pan. (I love the cast iron crepe pan I got for $3 at the thrift store!) I have some extra crepes, which I will fill tomorrow with feta and spinach.
Behind every opportunity is a disaster in waiting.

Sally, I forgot that sometimes I add a little mayo to the mashed potatoes, it's good in potato salad also good in mashed. Smiling

Vera, sorry you had to drink the powdered milk, we had to drink it as well. We could not afford to buy fresh milk, besides the corn flakes, we had large bags of puffed wheat to go with it. I have digestive issues with soy, and I dislike oat milk.

Hi 👋 yall!

I am sure there were odd things during my young years and odd things I do now in older years!

I just can't remember!

I am trying to break cereal habit!

Thanks for ideas for adding protein 😋 and flavor!

PS: yall learned to be clever creative cooks! Vera, I like your thrift store treasures! Maybe that talent came from your dad!

Sure wish I had some of those yummy tasty healthy crepes now!

Mayo! I never knew Thumbs up

I use mayo to coat white fish, before adding crumbs and parmesan topping. It's 'almost' an egg dip but so much less mess.

Having home made banana bread, in which I use a portion of whole wheat for a smidgen of extra nutrition. I consider home made to be healthy by default, no preservatives.
Plant it and they will come.

nature keeps amazing me
Cow's milk only. I know she's not my mama but I do like her milk. Use lactose free regular whole milk but not butter-the butter bothers my stomach. Don't know why. Yogurt and most cheeses are ok-no upset tummy.
I don't eat allot of mashed potatoes but whent he mood hits I use the Idaho brand in the pouch. Great spuds and no work involved. You can't really mess them up unless you forget to read the directions. If I want a baked potatoe I throw one in the micro wave and I'm good. I know allot of people don't like the micro waved potatoes but I don't mind them In fact taste better than the ones I've been boiling. Maybe it's the potatoe itself? Baby gold potatoes. They have a taste to them I can't put my finger on but I do not care for it.
Mayo is a good coating for fish or chicken to get the crumbs to stick . After the crumbs I let the pieces sit in the frig to set before actually cooking them [baked or fried]. Frig time seems to help the crumb coating stick better by drying it out a bit. As far as parmesean cheese on fish- I'll have to think about that. I'm not fond of sea food with dairy. But always open to a taste test! Then again I don't like Mexican food so probabaly just me and my tase buds.
listen to your garden

I don't think the parm makes it too cheesy, but it does help make it crisp. It's maybe half crumb and half parm.

A friend said when microwaving baked potatoes, give them an extra minute. IOW, make sure they're fully done.
Plant it and they will come.

A big pet peeve of mine..................oat MILK, soy MILK..............what kind of milking machines do they use to extract said "milk". It's plant juice, let's call it what it really is, NOT "milk". Rant over, you can put your guns away.

Goat milk........if it tastes and smells anything like goat cheese, nope.

Brenda, I was thinking I'm the only one that doesn't like Mexican food. No thanks. Refried beans...........when were they ever fried in the first place, and they sure weren't "fried" again. Looks like something the dog ate and heaved up. Sticking tongue out So many times when our group goes out for supper after Happy Hour at the park, it's at a Mexican place. I can usually find something that's not repulsive.

Sorry for the bitchy post. Rolling on the floor laughing Rolling on the floor laughing

Anyway...............I froze 5 more 2# packs of rhubarb. That makes 10 I have so far. Today I'm going to a friend's where they have a nice sized patch. She said "take as much as you want, we don't use it" (but she wanted to know when she'd get a pie. I suppose I'd better make her one.) I'll need to stop and Farm and Fleet and get another 3-pack of Food Saver plastic rolls. The SU said we're going to clean the floor in the "Grouse" (garage-greenhouse) today so he can put his precious child (the truck) back in.
