Oh dear, I lost several hours work on a post again. I am trying to get the energy to try again. I hate it when I close the browser instead of the photo. A miniature version follows. Sad Crying

Flowering for the first time in the garden this season. It was so dry so I sprinkled the beds last night. Some water got into the blooms.

Hereby hangs a tale. This is the first cross I ever did years ago. (I wouldn’t use ‘Hearts and Lace’ now - rust). One day about a year ago, I found a plastic lunch bag crunched in the bottom of the fridge's crisper. The seeds were dehydrated, crinkled and light weight. I was all set to put them in the bin when a whim made me plant them. Miracles - every seed germinated. This is the first to flower.

Your pics are so good Glen, n the blooms magnificent. Great that u planted the HEARTS AND LACE crosses. It seems to me that even probability doesn't help much in hybridising for rust resistance. Some with rusty parents can be very resistant (PIRATES PATCH) while others with resistant ancestry can be badly susceptible. ????? However, from looking at NGA, it appears to me that having WEDDING BAND or ROCKET CITY in the ancestry means an unacceptable risk of bad susceptibilty. Any one know of other culprits???

Today I had first flower ever on MOROCCAN SUMMER a swapsie from Glen. It is a lovely colour. Think a petal?/?sepal delaminated itself so it looks like thick pollen. Thumb of 2016-10-22/bron/227ae1

The NOID red was very dark this morning and did well in the sun today. Also had almost constant gusts between 40 and 45km/hr.
Thumb of 2016-10-22/bron/095b48

Yellow Gold NOID again had a damaged sepal. Think they were more trumpet shaped last year. It is under a SIlky Oak which is a native to these parts. A very tall tree so I keep lopping them. Hope one day to graft other shrubby or prostrate grevilleas onto it.

Glen. That creamy apricot polychrome sdlg looks so nice I wld b sad whenever its blooms finish for the day. Aren't we lucky to have pics. Half the fun with daylilies.

I had 2 KELLY'S GIRL OUT today but thought I should keep my distance from the ones on the slope having bumped off 3 buds from a COLLIER and one off GREEN MYSTIQUE. Fortunately more buds left, and including ones about to open.

Thank you Diana. I have wondered about Seedling MDBXALL THE MAGIC 2011 035 too. It seems to have elongated tepals or something. It is easily recognizable even if I get confused with what yellow is what sometimes. The other thing is it has a metallic gold edge so if the yellow of the flower fades during the day the metallic edge doesn't. This gives a white limned in gold. I don't have a picture on this computer but will find for you. Here is a night time shot.

I do have my eye on Collier, Bron. Rust resistance is too good to miss. I have shunted it into the sculpted project. I think it looks as good as America's Most Wanted.

The Alexander's 'Maleny Eyecatcher' you gave me are sending up blooms everywhere too. His cultivars always have something. Heavens knows why he decided to stop registering his blooms.

Paralysis tick again. It knocks me about for a few days now I am getting older.

During the colder months this year I had a battle with root rot involving five clumps. However, after much wrestling, I only lost GLOW MONSTER. I think its demise had a lot to do with the papaya I let grow near it. DALRIADA was near Glow Monster. I shifted it too and now it is a bloom machine but Glow Monster passed on.

RIP
