Sorry I didn't take pics before the heavy shower. But they show how the different cultivars handled it.

She is (at far right of pic) amongst friends ie. east asian plants. All are sheltered by the regrowth of a once big camphor laurel, which will go when the bamboo gets established. They are great shade trees but they come up everywhere. I know a biologist who hates them with passion.

Meant to say that the golden NOID and KELLY'S GIRL were more i the open than the other blooms which may have suffered from channelling of rain drops onto them by other plants, except the JSMc /? ST wh was between 2 stacks of pavers and should have been more protected than all the others. ???

Glen. Is that sdlg KING LAMONI x CARROT CAKE as stunning as its pics? Looks velvety and great substance. Is it a brick red or maybe it would be called tomato red??

Yes Vickie KG is good in rain and sun as all these pics were after some strong sun, extreme UV and wind again today. I like KG more and more. Blooms are pretty big. It is growing in pure clay shale subsoil except fro a bit of added gypsum and compost underneath when I planted it. Being half way up the slope it doesn't get s much moisture as lower down.

MARCIA FAY looks happy to me even tho a bit hot. Both clumps are a bit shaded some of the day, so have to plant one in full sun. Thumb of 2016-10-21/bron/af3624 Thumb of 2016-10-21/bron/2b4a70

Yesterday I saw the cutest wallaby. A pretty light tan, just a bit darker than ME above. I told him/her to go down lower and stop eating my plants. It stopped and turned its face and looked every time I spoke. Lower down there are lots of plants with buds so I am inspecting every day hoping I can see one.

No rain here. The weather favours you, Bron. Kelly's Girl is cute. That large heavy orange noid, where did it come from? Biggg.

Debra, I bought that rose because the label said it was a dwarf rose. I assumed it meant the bush would be miniature. Well the bush is huge and vigorous and the flower is smallish.... But it is a beautiful rose and easy to grow and I love it. It is called "Borderline Yellow".

Oops. this is the poly bloom. Thumb of 2016-10-21/bron/bbf2af

Also I forgot to take pic of PAWN OF PROPHECY today. FFOS and small. Not the very dark grey purple of prev years, when it was in shade. Now it gets full sun.

Think the big gold NOID came from in front of a play group. There were rocks where I sometimes sat when walking my dog. Being a compulsive weeder, I would pull out asparagus vine, farmer's friends, and all manner of weeds. It was hard between the rocks. One day I accidentally pulled out a bit of what looked like a daylily. No roots or crown but it grew and bloomed. I then noticed a flower on the original. It was half the size of the one on my liberated bit. Probably only watered by rain.

Anyhow, I either have 2 similar plants which vary a fair bit, or 1 plant which varies a lot. One pot flowers a lighter gold and with a more pronounced halo. This year I will try and sort out that mystery.

I saw some galahs last week eating bindii seed on a footpath. They are very cute. Don't know if they are naughty like white cockatoos.

I had a couple of blooms today but they are already noticing the heat and dryness. Hope it rains soon as forecast.
