It is the plant and book sale for our local library today must run. Which is a laugh because my bees outran me to the pollen this morning.

Flowering for the first time this season.

Nice seedlings Glen. DALRIADA is as good as a hug. Such a bouquet.

When I saw T 11 open today, I thought "looks exactly like Alexander's unregistered 'Maleny Eyecatcher" which I already have (as does Glen now). It almost glows. Good on rust resistance, as is this T 11. Had to recharge batteries to take pics. Unfortunately flash not working so picked blooms, and sorry, crummy inside photos. Even with editing I couldn't get the actual pinkish orange. Thumb of 2016-10-15/bron/f7330b

I knew that ME is in the labelled 'collection' that Tesselaars sell. Found that CINDY'S EYE is too. So I am pretty sure that my T 7 is CE. In their 'collection' they also have FREESTYLE which I had ordered once from Mtn View and they did not supply it. So I hope F turns up among my T's. It is like Christmas.

Today the last bloom, and best so far, on MAGNIFICENT HUMMINGBIRD. It got a bit sunburned b4 I moved it. So I better rethink where I am planting it. Again had to edit pic but couldn't get it less orange. It is more bluish pink than pic. Thumb of 2016-10-15/bron/6463b5

I used my daughter's camera to take these of KELLY'S GIRL which was putting on a show. Good substance even at 9:30pm.

[quote="Gleni"]I was out trying to photograph the huge hawk moths that come to my daylilies at night. No luck. They only fly around when there is no camera.

I saw a research paper where they watched nocturnal daylilies, H.citrina I think. The night moths went for the yellow coloured nocturnal ones and ignored others. Likewise day pollinators ignored the nocturnal daylillies that were still open.

Think it came up when I did searches on H.citrina.

That's interesting Bron. The hawk moth I saw was on the yellow High Endeavour.

Debra I forgot to take the camera to the sale.

Goodness, I am late. I thought I had posted the photos today. Sometimes my brain has a mind of its own.

Not a good photo. This is 'Ethereal' Alexander (unregistered) blooming for the first time this season. A nice bloom actually. I still am stumped as to its ploidy.

Your seedling sure looks good now Glen. 2 blooms is great. Are those petaloids?

I am glad that DEBBIE MEAD looks worth the wait. Hope it performs better and better.

How are the seedlings in the dropsy over patch?

No pics today as gusts up and down the valley up to 50 km/hr. I was resting up a bit until late today. After moving over a tonne of fill without injury, even tho I started with a dislocating kneecap, yesterday I injured my right forearm carrying heavy pots one handed. The rest worked as I did a heap of work just before night fall. Wheel barrow loads, and raiding old compost heaps. So I got to plant out TOOTH and some other new daylilies. But watering is taking up time. There are cracks appearing in the ground and no rain likely.

First time ever flowering in the garden - another of Bron's gifts. TROPICAL HEATWAVE.

I am a sucker for orange and yellow. I know people of the Northern Hemisphere think such colours are common because these hues run wild. But they are fetching down here and unfamiliar.

Two clumps of SPACECOAST RUFFLES up and running today.

It is interesting, Donald, about the first blooms. I suppose it is like learning to drive or something. The gears don't go into place easily but with a bit of practice you get it right it is easy sailing from then on.

(added later: was that a mixed metaphor?)

I may be in the northern hemisphere but I adore the hot colors! My absolute favorites! Keep all the pale pinks & lavenders & tepid colors & give me the bold, brave, in your face colors. LOVE Cool Runnings, Tropical Heat Wave is sizzling - every bloom in this post is right up my alley! Superb Glen! Thumbs up Thumbs up

As Bron mentioned: lots of wind today.
Then a line of thunderstorms came through.

This seedling flowered for the first time ever today. It is another from seed from James. As to be expected, it exhibits the results of the travail that a first bloom experiences.
