They look similar don't they. So far no patterning has turned up on the seedlings from the pollen parent.

Remember this from the 13 October?

Wow Glen, I like all of those. The Crazy Miss Daisy seedlings are really nice, LOVE the VolarisXOld Tangiers #VO2016002!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Congrats on getting it to bloom. That color is great.
I also really like the pattern & coloring on MARCIA FAY. Whenever I see a bloom with the white stripe down the middle of the petals I'm always attracted to it.

Thank you Ann. I nearly overlooked that it was open this morning!!

I waited to see if the bloom would unfurl more. It didn't. I got lots of pollen from it for the freezer.

Another seedling opened this morning. I forgot about it too.
I have had it for a number of years. It is a bridge. I find Milanese Mango, as a parent, brings forth strong, large scapes and large thick-leaved clumps.

This is a sleepy bloom if I remember properly: that is, it does not fully open and is partly tubular. I will have to trot out my portable hard desk and check its past to be sure.

Great to hear about the Volaris seedling blooming. I have a very late scape on Cyber Zone and may have to do that to it. Our temps are hovering in the 40's at night. Cyber Zone is my earliest bloomer and now this year it will be my last if I can take care of this scape.

Your Milanese Mango seedling picture reminds me of the sculpted pleated cultivars that are becoming popular. H. Mother Upduff from Curt Hanson comes to my mind. The form is unique, but it hasn't grown on me... yet, lol!

So Glen, you now have had four siblings of the cross of WESTBOURNE TID BIT x JOSIE? How many more to go? I'd like to see a post containing photos of all of them once they've settled in. It's always interesting to see a group of siblings together.

Donald, I will do. From US seed from James two years ago, I have 5 CRAZY MISS DAISY x WAVES OF JOY and 6 WESTBOURNE TID BIT x JOSIE seedlings. Two of each have flowered so far. One of the latter most likely won't flower, however, because it has been devastated by cockatoos twice.

I have another 100-odd of other crosses that should flower this season - cockatoos being kind.

What great seedlings Glen. Gotta print out a goshhawk pic, get it enlarged to life size, n laminated. Is there a season when the pesky white cockies are not around? I saw some galahs last week eating bindii seed on a footpath. They are very cute. Don't know if they are naughty like white cockatoos.

I had a couple of blooms today but they are already noticing the heat and dryness. Hope it rains soon as forecast.

And a Yellow Gold NOID that was growing in a long row of clumps on the footpath 2 feet from the road. They have been there over 20 years so are an old daylily. The new owners had dug out one side so I figured my taking a piece hanging down was not a bad thing to do. Don't know if they are still there but they were very congested. That is an style yellow Bron. I find them totally fascinating. I am glad you got some DNA and replicated it.
Dry it is - I was hoping that the thunderstorm on Monday would do. The red noid is interesting as well.
Out of thirty-odd seedlings that fell over, I have managed to save only two so far. They rerooted after being rebooted into soil elsewhere. I may have saved another two - fingers crossed.
Yes, I distrust Rose-breasted Cockatoos too (it is an old name for Galahs).

18 yr old in my subtropical garden!
Thank you all for the encouragement. I felt pretty despondent when I was struggling to keep up with the watering and planting out. But got another 4 into the ground today.

My filled area is a pretty good microclimate that hopefully will grow a Timor Black bamboo (bambusa lako), and tree peony 'Alice Harding', a Clematis Jackmanii 'Rebecca' as well as a few perennials. It should get no frost ever. For most of the day it is part shaded, and in the afternoon it is well shaded but with bright light. Tomorrow, with 3 more daylilies in, I will take its first photo.
