Karen it appears to be some form of attack on the roots. The fans end up with the roots severed from the seedling and they fall over. They are big fans and not tiny seedlings.
I have replanted several. Interestingly, a few regrew roots and two sent up new shoots to the side of the dilapidated original fan!

Flowering for the first time this season,

BILINGA is a fascinating bloom. It has a mind of its own. I love it and I have done several crosses with it. It is difficult pollen parent and doesn't do pods.

Vickie, I like the colour of Rose Colored Glasses too. It has hung twice so far. Mean Joe Green hung too this year. But this will be the first time they have had a god run since I got them. RCG had to be moved this year but it is responding well.

Ginny, "Hung" is when the spines, teeth or frills get intertwined such that the tepals get attached or interlocked to each other and cannot unfurl.

Ginny. no daylily duelling between Glen and I. I enjoy his pics as much as anyone. He certainly has the ideal feeding formula to get fantastic blooms. And his photos r great.

My plants would b better if I got more water to them. They r dry out with the sun and wind. Must get more into the ground. But after removing a 1cm Robinia spike from a finger, I have been trying to keep it dry and clean. It had been there a few months, and had formed a granuloma. Good to remember that b4 penicillin many people died from splinters, small cuts ...

Anyhow blooming y'day:

All your booms are impressive Glen. What a contrast with the WTB x JOSIE sdlgs, the lovely cream and very interesting purple.

And the KING LAMONI x CARROT CAKE is a stunning red. I like self daylilies with small throats.

Glen GREEN MYSTIQUE had lots of rust when I first planted it. But I mercilessly take off rusty leaves and it is getting better all the time. Unfortunately when photographing KELLY'S GIRL 2 days back I broke 4 buds off GM, but there r some more on it.
