Yea Tarev!!!! I have my Aeonium. I transferred all the plants, including the HUGE Aeonium into the strawberry pot. All these plants plus some more I didn't have room for came from the same pot, for $24.99 at HD. I'm just thrilled to get the HUGE Aeonium. I'm not kidding those leaves are a good 10" in diameter. It should make a fine speciman, if I can keep it alive.

A picture of the other side of the pot, and what I put in the pockets there. Does any one know what the white leaved succulent is, that I put in the pockets? I love the contrast in foliage:

And last but not least, a picture of our beautiful sunrise this morning!! I love you Arizona!!

All beautiful plants ... and pot too. What a good find at HD. I never go to our HD store here but I should after seeing those, Alan. Hurray! Of course, they tend to send certain plants to certain parts of the country more than others, but still ... you never know when you might luck out.

Today I have zone envy. Sigh! Glare

Your right Tee, and most of these plants are grown at a wholesale nursery right here in Arizona I think. It would have been nicer if they would have gave me wholesale prices, I would have bought two pots...lol!!

Just took out the camera this morning to see how my succulents are doing with these consistent low 30 to 40 night temps and upper 50's days...not bad, a little cold stress, but since it has been too dry, the succulents are coping well.

A friend of mine, Grant Meyer, wrote an article on aeonium's which I found very interesting. So glad he shared it with me, because I would have killed them for sure, if I took care of them they way I assumed they should be. Apparently things have to be done very differently with them here in our HOT deserts, than is done in other places. Great article.

Tarev, what is the plant in the 6th photo down? I have one from seed and it looks just like that. Are the long leaves soft?
I am so surprised at how tough they are in freezing weather.

Great article Alan. Thumbs up

Hi Lynn, the ID I got is Dudleya hassei. I hope it is right.. The leaves are fleshy and firm, like the texture of the leaves of a jade plant, though the shape is more elongated. I am still trying to really see if it loves to be in a more heated area or just part shade, I guess okay if I put in full sun during winter, but to keep it in shade when summer heat is here.

Here is how she looked like in Feb 2010:

It does look similar! My plant got wrinkly during wet winters..but bounces back, as soon as weather becomes warmer, but does not really like being in too much summer heat. Big Grin

This one won't almost no water. Right now I have it in a sunny window for winter. I will have to wait until it some day blooms to find out more about what it really is. : )
Here are two others that I grew from seed at the same time as the above photo. I have no idea what they might be.

Tee, I found it interesting that here, in the summer, we cut way back on watering them in the Summer, as they go dormant. I would have thought it was dieing instead of going dormant, and kept adding more water, which I guess is a big no no for these beautiful plants in the summer. So surely I would have killed it. Grant is an awesome gardener, always willing to share his knowledge.

Same here with some of mine. Most I have now are winter dormant but a few are summer dormant which I sometimes forget. Then I'm wondering and wondering what is happening that I might have done to the poor things. Hilarious! They can certainly look pitiful when they go dormant. Whistling

lol! Yep, Grant informed me the aeonium will look pretty crappy by the end of the summer, but he said as it cools down, it will come right back and be just as beautiful as ever.

The different dormancy of the succulents is one of the reasons I go around and keep taking photos of the plants as the season changes... reminds me that they can look that gorgeous during winter or dull in summer and vice versa Big Grin
