Big Grin They're 2 different entries. Maybe because of the change Dave made a bit ago?

Yeah, not sure where I asked that but for any deleting, I do a lot of research now and not just assume something. Using the online plant references really helps, like the one Dave listed above.
Lot's of confusion out there int the plant world!

No Even, one had the species name and one didn't so they have always been separate entries. There are quite a few like that among all the listings, same cultivar name, one with and one without the species names.

Polly, Id guess all the Cubits entries have a duplicate entry that needs deleting. Is it easier for you if someone proposes a deletion? If so I could do the JI or sibs for you.

Sue, If you follow ZuZu's link you'll see they display identical names for some reason.

Just in case someone isn't understanding what I'm saying, which I don't think even I am, previously these were listed as

Iris (Iris 'Caesar's Brother')

Iris (Iris sibirica 'Caesar's Brother')

So they would not have been near each other, and no one would have noticed.

Evan, I will gladly take any help you can give. Let's see where Dave goes with this. I think all the ones brought over from Cubits are going to be like that, as we only used Iris 'Caesar's Brother' there, we never put the sibirica in. So all those will probably be dups. Thanks for the offer to help!

We're both saying the same thing I think. The names are "displaying" the same in the list, but they're 2 different entries.

Yes, they are now since Dave changed it. Before they were listed in two different places.

I'm a little confused Evan, so don't mind me.

Polly, I'd be glad to help. When I did the search for "siberian iris" Iris 'Caesar's Brother' did not show up. Iris sibirica 'Caesar's Brother' did. That was my test because both have pics so are easy to see.

I fixed the Clematis page.

PollyK said:Too bad they had to call them siberian iris and iris sibirica, talk about confusing people.

The former is the common name, the latter is the latin name.

I know that Dave, but they could have done siberica, very few people know anything about sibirica. If I've seen it, it's usually spelled wrong.

So, is the iris section done? And would it be too much to ask to put the species at the end, or intermingled alpabetically?

What did you do with clems on that one?

Thank you so much, Dave.

I like the species at the beginning of the listing, they came first in the plant world and then the hybrids so it makes sense to me. Big Grin

I'll go with whatever anyone else wants. I just thought people that want to peruse all of irises, or whatever, would be looking for cultivars.

Out of habit now, I click on one letter at a times for the alphabetical listing. That way I can get right into the good stuff, the photos!! But perhaps the species can go back to the end of the line. They do kind of get lost back there though and it wouldn't be as obvious as to know where to find them. Shrug!

Just as long as the databases with that feature are uniform.
