Jim, how does Lemon Boy taste to you? Do you recommend it above other tomatoes? I'm not a huge tomato fan myself, but I do love salsa and other tomato-based things and thought it would be neat to have a non red Tomato type to put in them. Plus, for family members who do like tomatoes, I thought a yellow variety might be a nice alternative color in salads. Thoughts?

J Erb,

I highly recommend what Karen said about rejoining the swap. The cost of the swap is designed to allow you to trade with multiple people for less than what you would pay to mail out seeds to multiple people on your own... Oftentimes FAR less, and it is so much fun! I encourage you to give it a second thought. There's still plenty of time to get in and list your seeds

Libby The first four Tomatoes of Lemon Boy were perfect , everyone here liked them in salads , A nice light texture sandwich Tomato is how I describe it ,

Couple of them fell still partly green sitting on the counter

I coughed all night , Sniffles , caught a cold so this weekend will go to waste , First I have had in six or seven years ,
I grew the Lemon Boy to eat as a test , The others are a grow for refreshing some seeds .

I have some seeds to package now , but not while I'm coughing , ,, The Achoo and no seeds on the counter anymore thing

Thanks Karen and DnD, but I'm good on the swap. I prefer the person to person trading, no offense. I'm up to 177 types of peppers now, that grew from only jalapeno seeds in June. Seeing how next year I am only growing, peppers and tomatoes, plus a few odds and ends here and there, I feel the person to person method is ideal. Just figured there was no harm addressing the group here for potential trades. I'll refrain from posting messages in here from now on about trades ;) if anyone is interested in trading tomato seeds for pepper seeds, before the swap, let me know via treemail. Thank you, and everybody have fun with the swap and happy planting Smiling

Would anyone be interested in Lavender Moonvine seeds? They reseed like crazy but the night pollinators love them! They perform way better for me than regular moonvine but the flowers are much smaller (but open in the late afternoon).

I was so excited, my first order of seeds came in today! I think it was my largest order, too...Renee's Gardens had some good prices on some of their seeds, so I bought more than I should have. Whistling ?..but it feels good to be getting some seeds listed early. I hope I will get time to add pictures later, but I might have to be bad and go against my own advice this year and go picture-less. It's that darn time thing....too little of it, and too much of that "work" stuff. Where's balance when you need it?

@lalambchop1 Leslie, are you looking for seeds from hybridizing with amaryllis papilio, or did you want it to be exactly papilio?

As luck would have it, my cape sundew (drosera capensis) carnivorous plant has sent up a flower stalk. I have never collected seeds from it before, but I think I may give it a go since I've read the seeds are "copious".

Anyone interested? If so, I'll spend a little time focusing on it and see what I can get. :D I guess each flower only opens for one day. It sometimes pollinates itself when it closes at the end of the day, but it's no guarantee, so I gotta be on top of it with my lil paintbrush, and then not let the seeds go poof everywhere. Especially since I read germination is pretty good. I like this plant but I don't need it everywhere, haha. :D

Edit: Please ignore my dying african violet. There's a whole long story, but I'm pretty sure the thing is toast. Sigh.

Joolie, your African Violet is probably fine. Mine look a lot worse & have lived for years! When I remember to water them they actually bloom too. They are a lot tougher than they look!

I'd be interred in the sundew seeds also. I'd love something that could eat fungus gnats!

Awesome! Then I'll start figuring out how to corral the seeds. Usually I like to go the 'tie a little baggie' route but the flower stalk is far too slender and fragile for that. Maybe I'll make a little cone of shame for it. Rolling on the floor laughing

It does a really good job of catching fungus gnats! So does my other little guy, the pinguicula.

The violet LOOKS ok-ish in the picture I guess, but almost all its leaves have gotten mushy or floppy and many have fallen off. I had an issue with an aphid infestation (someone brought me a petunia and it was during a party and I wasn't thinking so I put it on the rack and of COURSE it had aphids) and one thing led to another and short story long it's getting worse over time, not better. I'm making sure not to overwater it and just trying to leave it alone and hope for the best, but the prognosis isn't good. *Blush*

At least I have finally gotten rid of all my indoor aphids. RIP strawberry plants.

In other news, last night I decided to try again on pollinating the bomarea distichifolia and this time try something new to see if I get more success. Sooooo, I got out my Sonicare toothbrush and held it against my tiny paintbrush. In the middle of doing that, my husband came in earlier than I expected and the second he stepped in the room I yelled, "DON'T EVEN SAY A WORD!" He's always amused by the random things he finds me doing to my plants, but I've never looked like I've been trying to brush their teeth before.

...I was just glad I went with the electric toothbrush and not the other object I had been considering.

It'll be all worth it, though, if it worked!

I can't even think of anything OTHER than the thing I know you thought of, now that I'm trying to think of non-dirty alternatives. Hilarious!

(Can you imagine though, being caught buzzing flowers with one of those things? Hahahahaha!!)

Well you WERE trying to make the flower "pollinate" itself. Rolling on the floor laughing

Okay, okay...so let's stop talking about coffee frothers, right? Because that WAS what we were talking about, right? Dirty coffee frothers that need to get washed in the sink... Big Grin nodding

Hey, the pretty pictures fairy came and put pictures on a bunch of my items! Thank you!

ETA: @vma4922 -- How many crimson clover do you want? I'm going to be sowing mine tomorrow and can hold some back for you. :)

I also have some Starship Rose lobelia blooming right now, so I'll toss a baggie over a couple of them. They just started blooming recently so it'll take a while for them to bake. And I've got strawberry blonde sunflowers bagged up and ripening and OOOOONE lonely chianti, the lone survivor of the insatiable sprout-eating squirrel. Cross your fingers on the seeds making it till maturity; if they do I'll pack some up!
